I never write bad reviews, but I have no idea why this is billed as a Library. Because there's books? I have been here for 3 different days, from 10am-5pm, and throughout that time there have been at least 10-15 children running and screaming around. Right now, at 3pm, there are close to 30 toddlers and young kids in some sort of afterschool program. One is screaming, others are just yelling loudly. While I was in the bathroom, a 3 year old girl walked in (mens room), yelled and then shut the light off. Which, in writing this, is hilarious, but come on. There's no peace in New York City, this should be called a daycare center, not a library :( - I had better luck at the Dekalb street where at least the only thing that happene was my stuff getting stolen. Hungry Ghost coffee seems to be a middle ground, where at least the washed up hipsters are only blasting LCD soundsystem and Shins records...
Read moreI live in the building behind this library, and have for many years. They are constantly spending obscene amounts of tax money on renovations that no one utilizes, they ironically make the most noise on our block. My particular grievance that has prompted the impulse to write this review, is that there are two trees in their backyard that they cut back down every couple of years. Right to stumps. These trees are the homes of many, many small birds that come to our balcony to our bird feeder and now these birds have to find a new home, again. Thank you, Leonard library for your backward ways in making the neighborhood more grey and dreary, once again. Rip trees & birds, the only semblance of nature we had left in...
Read moreI had to come here at least once because this is the 'Tree Grows in Brooklyn' library. They've had programs here for the book (once i even got a free copy) and they've had betty's daughter from connecticut come for a special day. The structure itself is one of the old Carnegie-funded branches built over 100 years ago--historic but still functional.
I've gone here for book discussions but the group is small. They are welcoming enough but it is not like the 10 regulars you will find at other branches.
Between 2-5 this place can get noisy and crowded, especially in the...
