Edit: my original review was for when this was Brooklyn Harvest. Now that it is Foodtown I find myself in here once a month, if that. It just isn’t the same. Prices seem a lot higher and sales aren’t as good. We really didn’t need another Foodtown, Brooklyn Harvest was better.
I think it's a great addition to the neighborhood. Sure it's another supermarket but better that than another nail salon or pizza shop.
The quality vs the prices are pretty good. Some weeks will have better pricing/sales than others(like any market really). They have a good variety of items in case you're limited such as lactose free dairy and gluten free items.
When they first opened their seafood game was strong, good quality and good price. Since then it's fallen a bit and prices remain relevantly high and quality is OK. Never gotten sick but for the price I expect more. When they do get squid rings(Calamari) they're the biggest you'll ever see!
The produce is my favorite. Beautiful berries, peaches, pineapples, and the mot gorgeous avocados ever!
The staff, managers, cashier's, stockmen, are all wonderful. Everyone is friendly, helpful and organized.
The store is always clean and we'll stocked. Baked goods and cold cuts always fresh as well as meats and seafood packages very well(never leaked in my bag).
I find myself in here multiple times per week. It's nice, big store with lots of selection and...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about this store as long as you shop there before 4 PM.
The morning staff, from the cashiers ( Megan and Lettie) to the Manager (MOE) is amazing. They always have a smile on and greet everyone, making you feel welcome. They are super helpful when you have a question on any product (whether the question be, what aisle is the product in or if they carry that product). They speak clearly enough for you to understand them and never give an attitude.
That being said........ I went in around 4:30-5 PM to grab some quick items and felt like i was not welcome there. The cashiers looked so sad and quiet ( nothing like the morning cashiers)except for one (on register 3)that was smiling and talking to the guy in the front on his phone...
I could not reach an item on the top shelf and walked to the front of the store to ask the gentleman for some help..... He could not understand what I was asking him for and he kept looking at the young lady ( short and on the heavy side) and smiling. I then went to her to ask hoping she can translate and she looked at me and said ( sorry no English) and then looked back at the young man and smiled.
Sorry to say they just lost a customer, I will be letting all my family members know not to shop there. We will be more than happy to bring our business back to C-Town...
Read moreNever buy anything labeled Brooklyn Harvest, before you not only check the date, check the list of items that are supposed to be packaged in said packaging. Especially the Italian sub not only do they not put what is labeled its bone dry. It clearly states there is dressing on the sandwich and when you bite into it ,nothing.
If you want a great Italian sub ask the deli guy, he makes one mean sandwich, never disappointed.
In the produce department, don’t get too excited about buying already chopped peppers and onions for a quick meal (it’s either spoiled or out dated, soup greens are always missing items as well.
When you ask it’s either they don’t speak English (produce employees) or front end manager (JELSON) or the POS person (Adrianna) or the cashier ( Leticia) blaming the Astoria location (26-14 2nd St.). It’s a shame that this location can’t keep up with their products and blames someone else.
When you ask to speak to the manager you’re told he is on lunch (it’s his...
