I absolutely LOVE this salon well for my nails and feet any way. This is embarrassing but I can't spell my pedicurist name but she is the owner's (Georgina) sister I call her my Pedi Queen her seat is the one closest to the window, she is AMAZING, she's sweet, kind, caring, funny, humble, comforting, professional and extremely personable!!!! I allow no one else to take care of my feet and Laaaaaawd knows my feet are not for the faint of heart. She takes her time and does a phenomenal job. I travel all the way from Staten Island to see her if she's off she still comes in to tame the beast lol if she's unavailable (on vacation, sick, taking care of family business etc) I literally will wait until she is.
As far as my nails go I also go no where else, I've strayed a couple of times but have deeply regretted it. I will NEVER do it again...for the most part all of the nail techs are good at what they do I've only been dissatisfied literally twice in the 5 years I've been going and neither of the techs that did my nails those 2 times are no longer there. Your nails will last, as ashamed as I am to admit it I've gone 3 to 4 weeks to get a fill in (don't judge me lol life gets busy sometimes) and all nails were in tack. I don't know what magic is in the glue acrylic or any other products used but baaaaaaby whatever it is it works it lasts and I'm grateful!!
The only complaint I have is that they are literally ALWAYS crowded however in my opinion that's just a testament to how AWESOME they are!!! They are well worth the wait...
I had one bad experience with getting a wash and set and that was enough for me. The lady was rude rough impatient and did not take her time (I don't know her name but she's medium/darker complexion always has a resting butch face she kinda resembles a mole she's short) I was done in less than 45 minutes and the results were less than flattering. I don't know about you but you only have one time to do me wrong especially with my hair...1st impression is EVERYTHING!!!!
BUT if u are interested in an outstanding pedicure and or manicure this is the place to go. The prices are more than reasonable--and they...
Read moreWent to this salon to get a manicure and pedicure for my birthday. I had never been to a Dominican nail salon but I had hoped it would be similar to the Asian salons I’d frequent. It wasn’t lol.
Pedicure: got this done first and I want to echo one of the other reviews for this business. They do not sterilize their tools. They reuse from the previous person and my pedicurist would simply dip the tools in the soapy water when needing to wipe them off. The lady working my toes only spoke Spanish and I could tell she was getting frustrated that my proficiency wasn’t high. The service was very mid, absolutely nothing special. She did nick my toes a couple times and was highly distracted from her phone and the environment around her. I don’t blame her for the latter since the whole salon is loud. Hair dryers, adults and children yelling on the top of their lungs. I’m also sure she was talking about me to the other stylists, as she literally pointed to me while talking to others. Of course chisme isn’t limited to just dominican salons but I think that being a black woman there didn’t help my case.
Manicure: my stylist was better for this. She was more open to suggestion and criticism. Two of my fingers were bleeding and when I told her, she said “mhm”. Thankfully we were at the step of washing my hands but there was no aftercare to address the wounds. I think she did a decent enough job, I didn’t want anything marvelous just something cute for a birthday. My nails did feel very tight though those first 24 hrs which isn’t something I’m used to.
All in all I give this place a 3. For a gel pedicure (no extensions) and a gel manicure with tips, everything came down to $115 ($40 pedi, $75 mani). This place is great if you need something quick and relatively simple. If you want something more complex and a better experience I’d go elsewhere as they didn’t have a lot of nail...
Read moreTheir Instagram page showcases BEAUTIFUL WORK BUT false advertisement is real. I felt that because I was not hispanic (Dominican) and could not speak Spanish well, I received poor service STAY AWAY. If you do not speak Spanish, stay away. Stay away even if you do speak Spanish, unprofessional.
The service: I asked for stiletto shaped nails and received coffin shape. The nail tech (Grey) rushed through the job and I had to immediately remove them after because of the tightness I was feeling from the improperly placed acrylic. The Nail technician was too aggressive when handling my nail that she popped my tip off twice and had to re-glue and she eventually ended up cutting me. We all know that the chemicals we are exposed to while getting this service done, that when one has a cut it will cause major discomfort. If you are not getting gel, rest assure that your nail polish will get messed up because they do not have a station to dry your nails. Beware because they charge by the length and the shape of the nail. If you want long extensions, be ready to pay up to $50-60 (without nail design or gel). Nail Techinician stayed on the phone the whole time, probably why she ended up cutting me and I ended up with the wrong shape.
The place: The nail salon is not just a nail salon. They do hair, and makeup as well. The place is too small to house such activities. It doesn't seem like it is up to fire standards because there is no space to move around. Unprofessional and unsanitary. During peak hours, when busy, the place gets more crowded, contributing to the space issue. The place is too small for everything they offer and within hours, people are standing on top of each other because there is no...
