The office on Ocean Parkway was so much better. After Dr. Ahmed moved to McDonald Avenue, the wait time became ridiculously long and all appointment times out the window. Also, she doesn't give patients more than 3 month supply for necessary medications and does not care about certain patients. I used to go to Dr. Ahmed when her Nurse Practitioner was the only one I would see. There was no wait time. The doctor would never see me and the practitioner would give a decent supply of refills. My experiences after the office moved took a turn for the worst I guess because I had medicaid at that time. Now I have proper insurance and new in network doctors who can provide extra refills without needing to see me, especially when they are supposed to know me. Recently, Dr. Ahmed told me to keep an empty stomach for a blood test and gave me the appointment time 3pm in the afternoon. I had nothing to eat or drink since the night before. I was on low energy when I got to her office and saw it was packed with people ahead of me. I waited a half an hour and walked out without seeing the doctor. Another time to give me results she agreed to do it by phone. She called late from an undisclosed phone number and let it ring very few rings and hung up. Never got the results. My new insurance contacted her for express refills and she never answered. I had to call her office for information when they told me the doctors policy is to meet with patients before giving refills. Dr. Ahmed is horrible with patients. I would never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve seen many doctors internationally and have a long history of being dismissed and misdiagnosed by medical professionals, and I have become so tired of doctors who compartmentalise and only look at the direct symptom or body part, ignoring possible theories that take the whole body into account. As a result, I am often hesitant about meeting new doctors.
But Dr Lotus Ahmed may just be the best Iāve seen since I left my home country. She truly listened and was open to my theories on where my symptoms came from, and I felt deeply heard and respected as a patient. In fact, when I told her I appreciated her being open to my theory and not dismissing it, she seemed surprised. I find that the best doctors often assume that theyāre just doing the bare minimum - when theyāre actually quite rare. She gave me holistic lifestyle suggestions, and most importantly: explained her reasoning for the prescription as she clearly was not in a rush to medicate.
This is how medical...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDr. Lotus Ahmed goes above and beyond as a doctor. I initially came here because I saw her shining reviews on Google and ZocDoc and what they say really is true. She is very thorough, she listens to you, and explains everything that she will do and is doing in the moment. She is non-judgmental and extremely professional and caring. I like that I can text the office questions and get answers at a time appropriate from them when it's not so urgent. She even called me to follow up with me when I was concerned about a condition I had to go to the ER for.
I've been here where I have to wait over an hour to see her (with an appointment) and I've been here where I've waited only 20 minutes. Either way, I come prepared knowing that she may be very busy so I bring a book or something to work on as well as schedule appointments where I do not have to be anywhere immediately after.
Tip: Bring cash to pay for your visit to avoid any surcharges and fees you would have to pay...
