I stumbled upon Clay Space through a Google Search one day when I was stressed out from my day job, which is in front of a computer. When I first encountered Clayspace, I didn’t know what ‘handbuilding’ or ‘wheel throwing’ was, all I knew what that I had to get out of my head and away from a computer screen. I ended up giving the studio a call to better understand what was what and Janet picked up. She was so kind and thorough, and explained both terms to me and I learned that what I wanted to do was wheel throwing. She also invited me to the studio to check out the space.
I walked by one of the days and saw the beautifully displayed art work in the windows, the clean facilities and the natural light that reached into the studio. I went home and signed up that same night with Barbara for 8-three hour lessons. For 8 weeks, I went 1-2x a week and it was such a special experience. I highly recommend Clayspace. Nowadays, we’re constantly in front of screen and it’s really nice to be in an inspiring space that reconnects you with your body. Molding clay is a really therapeutic and cathartic experience that I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. The team there is so kind! Huge shoutout to Olive, Janet and Barbara for my wonderful...
Read moreI've been a member of Clay Space for 8 months now. This pottery studio is wonderful. The owner is very caring The place is large, bright, airy, well lit. It was built specifically as a pottery studio. It has separate areas for members and students. The place is kept clean and the tools provided for the members are well maintained. The member shelves are new high quality and very sturdy. There are 4 large kilns, which ensures your pieces will get fired quickly. The techs who load and unload the kilns take great care with your pottery pieces. This place nurtures your creativity and creates a great space for you to grow as an artist as well as socially. There is a great community of artists that you can learn from here. There are even occasional social gatherings on the patio. Definately...
Read moreFor the most part my experience at Clay Space was good. The classes were okay, my instructor was helpful, and the studio hours included were very nice. After doing much research about which studio to choose for a throwing class, not many included 3 studio hours per week, so that’s a plus. I will say though that every time I spoke to a studio monitor and asked a question, they were never that helpful and quite frankly seemed annoyed at me asking a question. I asked a instructor were I could find my fired pieces after the semester finished and they weren’t helpful. The shelf were the fired pieces go is very disorganized and I never found my pieces even though I payed for their firing. That was very frustrating and I honestly decided to just let it go. Otherwise, a...
