Was passing by Little Manila with an out of town friend and saw this place across the street. I’d always wanted to try momos and liangfen so we decided to go in and I was super happy!
We ordered the dry beef liangfen, chicken fried momos, and beef chili momos. The liangfen was super slippery but also very interesting texturally and delicious. Since the noodles don’t really have flavor on their own, the runny sauce coats them with just enough flavor and complexity. The dried beef pieces were jerky adjacent but not stringy or hard to chew. They held their own even after sitting in the broth for a bit and offered a welcome contrast to the gelatinous noodles. They offered us both chopsticks and forks, I managed with just chopsticks and my friend used both. The dish was spicy but not too much for my friend who has a more moderate spice tolerance. I think the owners realized it was our first time trying the food so they lowered the spice level. If you want it spicier you can probably ask them to 🙂↕️
The fried chicken and chive momos came with a side of lightly pickled radish and a spicy sauce in a squirt bottle. This really is the kind of thing you know you should wait before biting into because it’s so hot you’ll be breathing into your hands with eyes watering. And that’s exactly what happened because they looked so good I didn’t wanna wait 😭😭😭 I don’t think the filling was spicy but that’s where the sauce came in. It was spicier than the liangfen and at the ceiling of what my friend could handle but she kept adding more because it tasted so good 😂 It was delicious! I don’t know what it is but I wish I asked. The momo wrapper wasn’t too thick nor doughy, it was crunchy and the filling was ample, moist, and flavorful.
The beef chili momos were soft and come with peanuts which weren’t a problem for me and my friend but the owners were conscientious in asking whether it was ok to add them. The sauce was once again really flavorful and went well with the juicy momos and peanuts. Similarly to the liangfen, I don’t think it was as spicy as it could’ve been so you probably could ask for spicier if you wanted. If I went alone then I definitely would. I ate more of these than the fried ones but mostly because my friend really seemed to be enjoying the fried chicken ones. Between the two I’m not sure which ones I prefer. I think the best choice would to always come with a friend so you can have both and be full at the end
They take cash and Zelle and our whole bill including tip ran us about $35. The owners were very nice and I would love to come back when I’m...
Read moreIt would take a lot for me to dislike a place that serves momos and in the end I really enjoyed it.
We always debate which type of momos to get and I'm always drawn to the chili, but instead this time we grabbed the jhol momos. These were exactly what you would expect. Nicely done, plump, flavorful. The sauce was nice. We added some of the chili to it which certainly added to the flavoring. We had gotten the spicy ping before this, which probably isn't a dish we would have normally considered but the staff recommended. This ended up being maybe our favorite dish. The sauce was so delicious. Flavoring amazing, good amount of spice. The sauce was thick without being too much. And the chicken was excellent flavored. This would have been my favorite but then the yellow liangfen came. We wanted liangfen but debated which to get, so settled on the yellow, which was a great choice. The noodles were delicious. Not sure if I've had this before but this was a must try in the end.
The service was excellent, probably because we were the only ones there. I do wish tap water were an option as we had to buy bottled water/anything else to...
