Fish Market中国超市 — Local services in New York

This place use to be called “Jin Cheng Da” but somehow it’s now showing up as “Fish Market” on Google Maps. I’m not sure why “Jin Cheng Da” is showing up as permanently closed on Google when this is the same place anyway. While it’s great that this is the only supermarket in the area that has the basic Chinese green vegetables, the cleanliness of the store is really poor. They have all these fly traps hanging on the ceiling and you would need to walk under them if you choose to walk further into the store. Also, BEWARE if you purchase anything from their open bins. I bought some Chinese barley from one of their open bins last year and it was a HUGE mistake. I brought it home and little did I know, there were already pantry moth larvae forming in the bag of barley I got. It was hard to see the larvae at first because they were so tiny that it blended in with the barley. Since it was summer, it sped up their growth even more and by the time I discovered it, it was game over because their population had exploded everywhere. I had pantry moths flying all over my house and laying eggs inside the pantry. Eventually, I saw there was larvae moving in that bag of barley. It was a nightmare and pantry moths are hard to get rid of. Recently, I was at their store and a pantry moth literally flew right in front of my face and this was near their open bins. If you do need to buy anything from their open bins, do so at your own risk unless you are desperate to have a large population of pantry moths as pets in your home. Also, do not expect the cashiers and workers (especially at the fish and meat section) to be friendly. Rarely, do I see them smile. If you are paying by cash and do not have the exact change, they prefer that you make their lives easier by telling you how you should give them the change (iykyk). I’ve been coming here for a while now and it is not the same as it use to be (or maybe it was always this bad). It would really help if they can improve their management...

They keep a large variety of fish, sea food, pork etc. Also duck and sometimes rabbit. Doesnt have a good range of vegetables however. Mostly those used in chinese cuisine....
