Garden of Knowledge Day Care & Learning Center — Local services in New York

I would not recommend this school if your child is not a programmable robot. My daughter was not adjusting to the environment there. They were extremely rigid and recommended that she be evaluated for ASD. I did have her evaluated and there was nothing wrong with her. She was terrified to go inside for 4 months and started acting out. I trusted them but they were unwilling to explore other avenues to address my child’s needs. They even requested that I pay a higher tuition because she needed more attention ( highly unethical). I removed her from there and enrolled her at another school. Two weeks later she comes home happy and singing. Something she NEVER did there. She has a speech delay that has improved immensely since changing schools. Her new school loves her and says she is such a pleasure to have. She participates there and GOK claims she would not participate and was aggressive. It’s almost like she’s a totally different child at this new school. The teacher at GOK is a so called ABA specialist so she’s quick to suggest that your child is on the spectrum and needs ABA so that she can bill for it. I’ve spent so many sleepless nights because of this school making me think something is wrong with my child and two weeks at another school rectified the problem. This daycare is full of so much greatness. When Adonis came to Garden of Knowledge he knew enough from what I taught him, but since attending GOK Adonis has excelled within his learning, verbal and interaction skills. The staff makes sure that every child is learning to the best of their abilities. No child is left behind. I am so proud of how far Adonis has come academically. The environment feels like home, as well as an advanced learning space. The excitement each child has to want to learn, shows that the staff makes learning very enjoyable. Every day, Adonis comes home with new material learned. Before entering school he knew how to only speak English, and now because of GOK he speaks 2 languages which is French. My biggest gripe of a couple of issues I had was that I was told they only get tv twice a week at specific times(wed and fri) and to walk in more than once and be met with the kids watching movies that wasn’t age appropriate was super frustrating. Also because they made the kids sit in their seats for this entire time. One of the movies I walked in on was an Adam Sandler movie. I understand it was the summer time but at least let the kids play with the toys and books in the classroom if your going to do that. The reason for 3 stars is because she was safe, she played outside and she loved the children in her class.
