The owner or coach RC of this place has serious repressed rage and can NOT regulate his emotions what soever . I was walking by on the public sidewalk. The door was open and his disabled dog tried to walk outside . I have a dog walking business and was walking 2 dogs like everyday. He was mid wrestling with someone he abruptly stopped and got up ran to the door to pick up his dog and starts screaming at me . He then continued walk out side to get in my personal space starts yelling right in my face like a drill Sargent pointing his finger in my face in a threatening manner calling me im stupid and to get out of here . Like its not a public side walk . Like im not allowed to walk infront of his store front? He tried to bully and intimidate me . I said you cant tell me where to walk in public As business owner myself If you wish to take your dog to work at your store front and you don't want others interacting with the dog then keep the door close which i said to him. The worst was when I tried to stick up for myslef telling him to back off get out of my personal space and then 3 other men all learning to be trained in MMA came outside surrounded me in a threatening manner. This is disgusting behavior towards a female! I did nothing wrong ! This man couldn't keep his cool for nothing ! When i said get your finger out of my face , he said what are you gonna do ??? He continued to yell and talk about my body weight & try to fat shame me . I would NOT recommend anyone learning any sort of self discipline from this place or this man ! Its hard enough for women to feel a safe in this city . Let alone somone not willing to take accountability for his actions . Just say my bad I wasn't watching my dog or my bad i should have kept the door closed . No nothing just gaslighting by him and the 3 OTHER men threatening me 5"1 150 lbs woman . His entitlement as though he owns the block and public sidewalk. BULLING WOMEN IS NOT OK !!! I called the police because I believe he would have hit me if he had the chance !! I wouldn't give them a dime of your money . This not the way any grown men should behave . I have worked in flatbush area for years now and I never once had a man let alone a business owner speak to me or treat me in that kind of threating manner it was discusting ! and all in front of the dogs and kids outside smfh his friend then continued to say discusting and provoking things to me as he left and got in his car . While I was waiting for police that I called to take a report . Cops never showed smh. I hope he get help for his poor dog and seeks therapy for his anger issues and fat shaming womens bodies doesnt seem like jiujitsu is helping...
Read morePillar Jiu-Jitsu & Boxing is a very special place. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the energy, passion, and dedication that sets this gym apart. The coaches are world-class—not only in their skill and experience, but in the way they teach, uplift, and empower their students - youth and adult. They break down complex techniques in a way that’s approachable, always emphasizing progress over perfection.
One of the standout offerings is their weekly self-defense class. It’s incredibly welcoming to beginners while still offering valuable insights and challenges for more advanced students. It’s rare to find a space where every student feels equally supported, no matter their experience level.
Having trained at other dojos in the past, I can confidently say that the sense of community at Pillar is unlike anything I’ve encountered. Whether you're in the children’s classes or adult sessions, the environment is positive, respectful, and growth-oriented.
If you’re looking for a place to train, learn, grow, and feel like part of something bigger—Pillar...
Read moreGreat experience! Called with some questions, and was told to come in by RC and take a free trial boxing cardio class. When I came in 20mins before my class, there was a kids classes going on so I watched with the parents and the first thing I noticed was the kids laughing and having fun all while following the drills set by the instructors, they were great with the kids. The boxing cardio was about an hour long workout where they push and motivate you within your ability and at your own pace. First doing cardio/core workouts, and then learning technique and combos with pad work. Highly recommend trying this place out, great welcoming and safe environment, which I appreciated never have taken any martial arts classes ever. I could tell this place really just wants to give the community access to these opportunities, they answered all my questions openly and flexibly. 5 star business for...
