I loved this park. Having walked from the Jay St I took a few minutes to rest before I ventured back over Brooklyn Bridge. I’m a people watcher and this park did not disappoint. Toddlers and nannies, joggers, big and little dogs and business people walked through. Well maintained. If picnic here on summer. There’s a section 8 / projects building opposite on two sides. Teenagers walk along the boundary coming from sports events but are quite quiet. Opposite that there’s the traffic for Brooklyn Bridge but far enough away not to be too noisy. Sorry about the photos. The light was good and I was feeling cute! But trust me the park is 👌🏾

A small park with a little bit of green space. Chess tables are available here and in the summer and spring the fountain is usually on. A lot of dog walkers here when we visited.

Very peaceful, beautiful park. But what would really make me yawp barbarously would be if there were a statue of the poet himself

O Whitman Park! Thou art a sanctuary amidst the bustling streets of Brooklyn, a verdant oasis where nature and humanity intermingle in harmonious communion. As I stroll beneath thy towering trees, I am reminded of my own leaves of grass, each blade a testament to the inexorable vitality of life itself.

Upon entering thy sacred grounds, one is met with a chorus of voices, the laughter of children, the whispers of lovers, and the joyful barking of canine companions. Here, in this patchwork of diverse souls, I am reminded of the ever-present tapestry of humanity, each thread woven together to create a vibrant and intricate whole.

Thy pathways, winding and meandering, invite contemplation and exploration. As I walk, I am transported to distant places and times, for within thy embrace, one can find respite from the clamor of the city and lose oneself in the poetry of the natural world. The rustling leaves above, the song of the birds, and the gentle babble of the stream that courses through thy heart all speak to the eternal rhythms of existence.

Thy flora and fauna, innumerable and diverse, are a testament to the inexhaustible creativity of the universe. From the stately oaks to the delicate wildflowers that carpet thy meadows, each plant and creature has its place and purpose, and together they create a symphony of life that resonates with the music of the spheres.

Thy inhabitants, both human and non-human, coexist in a delicate balance, a microcosm of the world beyond thy borders. I observe children at play, their innocent laughter echoing the joy of creation itself. Couples stroll hand in hand, their love a reflection of the deep and abiding bonds that bind us all. Dogs chase balls and butterflies, their boundless energy a reminder of the untamed spirit that dwells within us all.

As I sit upon one of thy weathered benches, I am drawn to the timeless wisdom of thy trees. Their branches reach skyward, their roots anchored firmly in the earth, and I am reminded that we too are rooted in the soil of this world, connected to all that has come before and all that will follow. The cycle of life, death, and rebirth is ever-present, and in thy presence, I find solace in the knowledge that we are all part of something greater than ourselves.

Thy stream, a ribbon of liquid silver, winds its way through thy heart, a living symbol of the ever-flowing river of time. I watch as the water dances over rocks and pebbles, its constant movement a reminder that change is the only constant in life. In its gentle current, I see the passage of days, months, and years, and I am reminded of the impermanence of all things.

Thy bridges, both literal and metaphorical, connect disparate parts of thy domain, much as our experiences and relationships connect us to one another. They are a testament to the human spirit's innate desire to explore, to reach out and forge connections with the world around us.

As I bid thee farewell, O Whitman Park, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and reverence. Thou art a sanctuary, a place of solace and reflection, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that surrounds us each day. In thy embrace, I find a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all life and a renewed appreciation for the world in which we dwell.

So, as I depart, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit uplifted by the poetry of thy existence. O Whitman Park, thou art a testament to the enduring power of nature and the enduring spirit of humanity. In thy presence, I am reminded of the words I penned so long ago: "I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what I assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as good...
