Walked in wth a custom built gaming PC. Was beat in the head with an evaluation of $75. Two and a half Fortnite skins, dude.
After telling the worker that I built, maintained, and priced the parts myself and found $200 more reasonable, his response was a giggle and "I don't know how you found that," and argue that "it isn't a PS5" among other things like people could buy a custom built PC for $300 from a builder which is an insane admission of "I dont know what I'm talking about."
Note that PS5's are being discontinued and manufacturing is ceasing. Additionally, the PC player base currently overshadows PSN's and is outpacing home gaming console ownership. So when you're told your "5 year old starter PC isn't going to make [is] money," you know that's a bold face lie and someone's talking out their behind.
I do my best to be as nonconfrontational as I can be and believe I held myself to account, but I was furious that I was lowballed so much and had my intelligence questioned. I am a manufacturing engineer in the electric aviation industry. My job is to use relevant tech and resources to develop, build, and maintain electric aircraft. When I walk into a business, I don't expect people to know this but to have been told the things that I was puts a horrible taste in my mouth about the company and the workers character.
Had I been told "This isn't something we cannot currently accept," or any variation instead of offered $75 for a custom PC that runs most games at 1080p on high settings at 80+ fps is absolutely insane.
Again, I price my third PC as: GTX 1050 Ti (Amazon $48), i5 8400 (eBay $35), 16 Gb Crucial DDR4 ($45), z370 Gigabyte Mobo ( eBay $65), RGB PSU 650 Watt + Case + Cooling runs another $75. I...
Read moreTook the bus all the way there with an old laptop, camera, Ipad, and 2 old iPhones. I was told no for all 5 items. It's idiotic to say WE BUY OLD ELECTRONICS but accepted nothing.
Even the professional camera. The clerk told me I was better off selling it on offerup, and that's exactly what I did. Sold it for $50 cash. A complete waste of a trip. I would've been happy walking out with $20, honestly.
