OMG total rip off, I travel to Brighton Beach every couple of months to get my hair colored and nails done, etc.. I used to live there and the prices are great, I was paying $25.00 for a haircut, $40 for roots and $20 for toner and $60-80 for highlights ( when I had med. long hair). On this perticular day, I walked up and down the block, where I ususally get my hair done and apperantly "my" salon was no longer there, so I walked in to another one. Ask for a color consult; "should I do just roots or highlights, or roots and a few lights around the face". I was told "ashe color is not a good idea and roots and some highlights were the way to go", come back in a few hours" I waited and returned. The hair dresser already had the formulas mixed, and started on me as soon as I sat down, I asked if we would be using foils around the face and dying my hair same day, he said "NO we are not doing highlights we are painting" I watched him slather bleach all over my head, tons of it, my hair is short and it was covered, ony a few inches of the top were spared. I expressed my concern, and he ignored me. Finally after he washed off my hair ( I could feel the dryness) he began cutting, first thing I said was PLEASE DON'T USE THE SHEARING SCISSORS. I already have thin, short hair, and was trying to grow it out, I was looking for an angled cut, perhaps some texturizing at bottom inch... But that is not what I got!!!! This guy completely ignored my requests, and went wild, pieces were flying, I continued to protest with no avail, my hair was not only fried, but shorter and thinner. I was presented with a $250.00 bill. Obviously I also, gave him a tip, a generouse one. Here is the deal, this splace also, puts on a show, they all run up to you in awe; "OMG you look amaizing, this color is amaizing, OMG hairdresser you are amaizing" and they do this as they present the bill to distract the disoriented clients, and it worked, also, they try to convince you to pay cash - which is a huge mistake, so, I signed and ran out of there, between the groupies and the salon smells and the music pumping, I just wanted to get home and cry. Needless to say , the next morning, I called the receptionist and asked, if she woul kindy itemize the prices based on services performed and apperently I was indeed over charged, I felt like I was a sheep who had been lead to the slauder, sheared to death... Damn, it takes so long to grow out my hair and now I may need to cut more off to clean up the "bleached feathers" he left me with. Also, he claimed to use OLAPLEX and I did't see him mixing it in to the bleach or using it at rinsing, or leaving it in. UGH what a bunch of scamers. I see that there are a few good reviews, so I guess that there has been a change in ownership, and personell, I know Ali and Mustafa ( I think they were at the other salon I used to go to), the guy who cut my hair was Russian, my advice to him is please go back to beauty school, learn to cut hair and LISTEN when people talk to you. You have a responsibility to the public, that is why you...
Read moreCame for manicure and pedicure on Thursday. She is great! What was not great that I was accused of not paying $20 which is insane. I had $60 in my hand, gave $20 to exchange it for tips. So I gave it to the owner if I'm not mistaken. First of al she took those $20 and gave me $20 in 10s and singles. So while she was exchanging it one of other two $20s fell on her desk. Then I gave her another $20 making $40 in total which was the price for manicure and pedicure. So as you make a math I gave her $60 in total and she gave me back $20. But then she started to accuse me that I didn't pay her enough money. She was very impolite and was raising her voice on me and my friend. We told her to look at the Camry above the front desk and she yelled at us saying that she can't do it, and her daughter will check tomorrow. She took my number saying when she checks everything she'll call me so I'm gonna come back and bring her another $20. I agreed also saying that she should apologize after she sees that she was the one who made a mistake. So I've been calling them for 2 days now and every time she says that on the tape they don't have those 20 mins time when that happened. Today on the phone she started to yell at me again, again accusing me and at the end she hang up saying: don't ever call or come back here. Lol like...
Read moreI had gotten my first Brazilian Keratine Straightening Treatment at La Vie. They have comforted me so very well while getting my hair done. They give me tea and treats, which is something I have never gotten at any hair salon in downtown Manhattan. The service that is offered there is top notch, and you will be treated like a diva.
In my opinion, La Vie is the best salon of New York! You get premium service at a fraction of any midtown price. Better than all of the Manhattan salons put together. They treated me like a Goddess, and make me feel good about my beauty. The result is, I got the absolute best service possible. I strongly recommend to get your hair done here.
The salon itself is so modern. They play quality dance music, and customers are always welcomed in at the front desk. I love how the place is lit up with LEDs, and they offer you the finest products. The eyebrow threadding service is amazing, and you will leave the place looking better than ever before. Because of their outstanding results for my hair and eyebrows, I will only go to this salon; La Vie in Brighton Beach Brooklyn, despite living so far away from there. Their service is that good.
La Vie is the only salon that has made me look and feel truly beautiful, I would definitely recommend this...
