UPDATE: I gave constructive criticism on this review. But by judging the response from the owner, the owner does not want to improve quality of the food and learn from the customers' honest reviews. I guess I am not going back!
I gave a try at this store. I bought the same items which I usually buy from Tashkent supermarket. However, the quality and taste of fresh food is sub par compared to Tashkent. Samsa with beef: meet wasn’t cook enough and it was hard to chew. Samsa with beef and potatoes: there was error with a sign and they were with pumpkin but pumpkin Samsa was good. Cheburek with beef: it wasn’t crispy, I didn’t like it. Beef lulya kebab: it tasted like it was cooked in the oven and didn’t have taste of smokiness. Totally disappointing. Sauce for shashlik: tasteless and it went to the garbage. I may give another chance a month later, but for now I will stick to Tashkent. Only good side was that the store...
Read moreYesterday, on Monday, May 22nd, 2023, I visited this place's "Cafeteria" window. I asked if they have "pirozhki" and the granny with black hair replied: "yes, there are pirozhki and chebureki", so I told her that I would like 1 pirozhok with meat and 1 cheburek, she packed them into paper bag with napkins and I gave her $4.00 total. Once I got back home and opened-up the oil/grease-soked bag, I found out that the pirozhok with meat turned out to be a round belyash! The taste of the belysh wasn't very good; there was too much oil in the dough which didn't tasted like it was fresh plus the meat was kinda rough and chewy. Cheburek also did not taste good: the dough was rubbery, the meat was rough and there was also the cloying aftertaste of used oil; I guess that quality is acceptable if you are very hungry and just need to get something cheap and fast to do the job. They also sell bread...
Read moreAfter walking the entirety of the Brighton Jubilee and noting that most of the street food looked inedible, my wife and I decided to try the Sarmarkand Bazar and I'm glad we did. The place is clean, bright and inviting. The baked goods looked fresh and delicious, so we got some Danish and croissants and headed to the prepared foods. I got a container of the Neptune salad, which was perfectly cooked, lightly marinated, tender octopus, squid and shrimp with peppers and celery, some kasha, a container of Kimchee and fried flounder. My wife got some kind of beef stew and a cabbage and mayonnaise-based salad and a few other things. When we checked out, we were shocked to see that everything cost less that $50. When we got our bounty home, everything was absolutely delicious. I don't know why there are so many one-star reviews, unless they're from trolls. We will...
