After reading so many bad reviews, I was hesitant about this place. However, it was better than I expected. Here is my good and Bad...
Good: All of their car seems to be new. The 12 seat van I drove had 3,000 miles. The owner/manager seems like he really cares about customer service. When I checked out, he came to thank me for the business and said hope to see me again. Simply gesture like this can go far in the hospitality industry.
Bad: Not honoring online quote: The representative I worked with was pretty awful. Expedia gave me a quote for 15 seat Mercedes Benz Sprinter for $140 per day. When I went there, I was given a 15 seat Ford van with no luggage space. So, then I asked for Mercedes Benz sprinter which was quoted to me by Expedia. However, the rep told me that it would cost me double the price. So, then I showed him the reservation that said 15 seat Mercedes Benz sprinter or similar, he then emphasized the fact that the ford was similar and it was a mistake by Expedia which is a 3rd party system. I didn't want to argue as I was getting late for my trip. However, it was a major red flag for me. NYC law requires business honor the online quote. I wonder if 3rd party mistake excuse is a loophole for the law.
Terrible Customer service: For me, luggage space was very important. So, then I requested a 12 setter van with luggage space instead of 15 seat with no luggage space. Although at the end he accommodated me, (for which I am glad) he gave me a terrible attitude and rudely asked me to come back after an hour. As if I was causing him a severe inconvenience. To be fair, it was 4th of July weekend and they were very busy, but that's no way you talk to customers.
Check in process: They call insurance company to verify if you have full coverage insurance or not. Which takes very long. To be fair, they did call me before and offered to check me in early if I send my documents. I didn't want to do that without learning all the information about the rental before committing to it.
Anyway, I have Geico and Geico usually covers rental and Geico said they would cover my rental. So, I didn't have to buy any more insurance from them. However, if you choose to buy, it cost $12 per day but high deductible of $2,000. It might be worth it for other people to call their insurance company and get full coverage on your car before renting from U-Save.
Limited Miles: The website was very clear about milage. So, I knew going in that they have limited milage. They usually give 200 free miles per day. I rented it for 4 days. We went over 800 miles and paid 35 cent per miles that went over. It was still worth it.
Overall, this company has potential to do well in the future but they do have to train their workers on customer service. Nevertheless, I would still rent from there again and would recommend others. Also, I would encourage other customers to call before and clarify everything like car type,...
Read moreThe customer service is horrendous I felt like I was dealing with young unprofessional employees every time I spoke to someone from there . I made the reservation online and received numerous phone calls afterwards from various workers at that location to confirm the reservation. Every time I called back I spoke to someone different who had no idea why I was calling and I had to explain someone there called me regarding my reservation. My reservation was then confirmed every time and this happened at least 5x or more by someone different however never once when the pick up time was confirmed for 9pm did anyone bother to tell me that they closed at 9:30pm . The day I went to pick up the vehicle up I was 11 mins away when a young female called me to tell me that she was leaving since my reservation was for 9pm and they closed at 930pm and she was not going to wait further . The whole process dealing with them was unprofessional and poorly ran. Will never recommend them or go there again I thankfully had a backup at Advantage at LGA and that experience went beautifully I was never contacted by phone once only an email and I was able to pick up my vehicle with no hiccups . s a ripoff experienced It was on October 29,17 i rented a luxury Sprinter Mercedes Benz for 2 days for my group of friends for 12 persons who are retired already they wanted to visit Nation Capital everything was great!!! but on they way back to New York i stopped by at gas station to gas up well because this van is very long van accidentally i made a narrow turn and i bumped it at the left site of the car in result small scratched on the site as well i was late to return in about an hour late they were charged full days \$399.00 +tax plus they charged me they small scratched in the amount \$1,500.00 plus plus i was shocked, and angry when i saw my credit card i had been charged that much money i was trying to resolve the problem they won
t listen to me at all To all peoples who plan to rent a van from this company i advised you Beware its a ripoff company Honestly!!! i will never ever patronage to this company anymore i will not Even recommend to anybody at all again It
