This place is what nightmares are made of! Keep your loved ones far away from here.
Little Neck Care Center markets itself as a “boutique” rehabilitation center, but in reality it is inhumane, dirty, rundown, short-staffed, and staffed with inpatient, inattentive employees who lack basic empathy.
After my father suffered a fall, the hospital recommended he go here for in-patient rehabilitation with daily physical therapy. Upon arrival, the transport person was directed to drop us off at his bed. No staff greeted us. We sat waiting at his bedside with a crumpled blanket thrown at the foot of the bed and the floor surrounding his bed had visible sign dirt and crumbs scattered about. After 15 minutes, I went to the nurses’ station to ask for someone to check him in. Another 15 minutes passed before a nurse finally came.
There was no welcome, only a curt, impersonal checklist and visual examination of his body. When I asked if the bedding was clean (since the bed didn’t look made), the nurse was visibly irritated and snapped back a short “yes.”
Basic needs were ignored. We had to request a TV remote multiple times. The nurse call button was mounted behind the bed, practically unreachable, and the bed controls were frayed. They had my father complete a food menu form, which was disregarded entirely. Each day we reminded staff of his dietary needs, and every day we were ignored.
Though he was admitted for physical therapy, my father was confined to a bed or wheelchair 23 hours a day. He received one group physical therapy session a day, which hardly qualifies as “rehabilitation.” Visiting doctors and therapists rotated through briefly, seemingly more focused on billing insurance than on patient care.
Shockingly, one visiting doctor suggested we remove him from the facility altogether. When we requested discharge, we were met with resistance and stonewalling. The facility flat-out refused to release him until we threatened legal action. Only after two full days of relentless advocacy were we able to bring him home. There was more damage by only allowing my father physical movement an hour a day. He lost muscle mass and this place set him back in his recovery. He now receives outpatient PT twice a week at a knowledge facility that is not associated with Little Neck Care Center.
This place is unsafe, uncaring, and unfit to call itself a rehabilitation facility. Do not be fooled by their marketing that this is not “boutique care.” It is a dump and detrimental to patients.

Read moreMy family chose LNCC in part because of the solid google reviews. Since our experience was so very different, I felt compelled to balance the scales by sharing our experience.
The only thing consistent for us was that the staff could not get anything right.
Mom came to LNCC quite weak after a 6 days stay in the hospital. Her 5 day isolation area was not isolation at all, she was with 3 other patients. No other room became available for her during her short time there. She was barely audible with 3 other televisions going non-stop.
On paper they "seemed" to have a plan for her, but the staff does not communicate with one another and therefore was unable to execute at all. Something as basic as orders for oxygen - which should have been 24/7 uninterrupted, as well as being unable to determine how this patient handle toileting.
So that in an attempt to respond to toileting needs, we had an aide disconnect her IV and then abandon her at the doorway of the room bathroom when she saw mom could not stand up. Her medical record should have indicated bedpan assist. It is doubtful anyone checked. As for the bare minimum care -getting a heart patient her oxygen -we found Mom without her oxygen day after day - whether it was the cannula was hooked over the bed headboard - or the oxygen machine itself was turned off. Such basic life care not even in place! Astounding.
Food requests/requirements (which matter for someone with congestive heart failure) were equally as dismal. And tho food services does bring the food trays to the floor, the CNA's have to deliver the meals to each patient, so if they are busy helping patients with other daily tasks, food just doesn't get delivered.
While we would not go as far as to say their lack of care caused her death - they certainly offered nothing in the way of the medical care needed to keep her alive. Other facilities may be as poorly staffed as LNCC but please don't be swayed by the positive reviews. Submitted by a daughter wanting to spare someone the pain experienced during mom's last...
Read moreMy grandfather was transferred here from the hospital for a broken foot. This is by far the most dangerous, neglectful, unorganized, unprofessional, & non-compassionate facility you can come to. There has been numerous instances that has occurred. My grandfather pressed the call bell, no one came. He screamed for help, no one came, all he heard was laughter in the hallway. What if he had fallen? I am an RN at a hospital, so I spoke kindly to the nursing staff about our concerns, they were still ignored. I spoke with social work about transferring him to another facility. We were asked for a second chance to fix the wrongs, well that didn’t work. My grandfather was ignored by the nursing staff today when he was in excruciating pain. The nurse literally turned her back & walked away. I asked to speak to the director of nursing, but she was in “meeting,” & I have yet to receive a phone call back. No matter what you do, the nursing staff do not care, are unfriendly & miserable. It’s just a paycheck to them. We were too concerned with our grandfather, we ended up taking him out of this place. Furthermore, we were unable to get his belongings when we took him bc the person who packs up was “unavailable.” We offered to pack up ourselves but were not allowed to (we get it, covid restrictions). Therefore, we had to leave his items behind and was told to pick them up at a later time. Does this make any sense? Absolutely not. Thank goodness our grandfather’s mind is sharp & has a cellphone so he was able to tell us everything. Imagine what other ELDER ABUSE would have occurred if he wasn’t lucid? Do NOT bring your family member here if you want compassionate care. I am horrified by this facility & cannot believe this place exists. Please do yourself & your loved one a favor, DO NOT send your family member here. News spread like wildfire, so will definitely NOT be recommending this place every...
