We had 6:30pm reservations for Mother’s Day, and given that it’s a holiday, we understand that it will be busy and the service may be slow.
There was a table that got seated half an hour next to us after we sat down. At this time, we have been asking for this woman to take our order, in which she kept saying she will come back. Throughout the next half an hr, we kept asking for us to just put our order in but she kept brushing us off, with attitude, while simultaneously bringing the table next to us their ten-course meal. Now mind you, at this point, we have sat down for an hour, and our order hasn’t even been taken, yet the table next to us had their ten course meal half an hr after they had gotten seated.
At this rate, I was outraged because she was clearly ignoring us and favoring the other table. If all tables were behind, I would’ve understood. But because she was rude every time we asked, and she served the table next to us all their food, I was outraged.
Not to mention, I have a fifteen month old toddler and a five year old, who do not want to sit still for so long and are hungry. I even brought my toddler to play outside of the restaurant to kill time, and when I came back, our order was still not taken.
After raising our voices, because she clearly didn’t care, another server came to take our order, which took no more than two minutes. Two minutes that this woman refused to give us, but had 30 minutes for the table next to us.
Again, I would’ve understood if she was sympathetic and if all the tables were running behind because it was a holiday. But she was outright rude and a disgrace to...
Read moreAmbiance (4/5): We came in at 1:30pm on a Saturday for dim sum and from the back entrance where there was plenty of parking. It was half cleared out already so it wasn’t very noisy. The inside is well lit and clean. Service (4/5): The staff seated us right away. There was plenty of staff members bustling around to clear plates. They provided a fresh set of plates when the chow fun came out! Food (3/5): $1 per person for tea. The dim sum dishes ranged from $3.95 to $10.95 where most of the ordered dishes were around the $5 range. Sadly, some were served cold/warm instead of piping hot. Beef Chow Fun (Dry) $17: It was served in an enormous bowl so there was plenty to share. The beef slices were super tender! The flat noodles were cut a bit too thin (personal preference). Glutinous Rice Dumplings (Hom Sui Gok): This dish was supposed to be served hot were actually cold. The inside of the pork/shrimp stuffing tasted really fishy. Fried Sesame Balls (Djeen Dui): This was really tasty! The inside wasn’t super sweet and the outer fried dough was crispy. Not sure warm but still crispy. Steamed Pork Ribs (Pai Gwut): This was also good. Tender bites and good flavor. Tofu skin roll: I liked this and the 3 pieces were thick and stuffed. Other dishes ordered but not tasted: Pork Siu...
Read moreJade Asian Bistro replaced Pine Court Bistro in this space on December 18. I found out that the owners previously owned the Jade Asian in Flushing which we loved, so obviously our expectations were high.
I came here twice, once for dinner and once for dim sum. I can say that the quality is just as good as I remember from their old Flushing restaurant. The dim sum is fresh, and I was happy to see the addition of more fried items on their menu which the previous tenants didn't offer. Dim sum starts at $2.95 for a small. As for dinner, you can get reasonable family sized entrees from $13 to $20. We specifically tried the Typhoon shelter shrimp and scallops, jer jer chicken, greens and beef pan fried noodles. They were excellent and reminiscent of their old location.
I see that they retained some of the previous staff which is nice to see. The dining room also received a new paint job and the tables and chairs have all been changed. Because of the good service, decent portions and fair price, I would highly recommend coming to this new spot. The owners are good at...
