This may be an experience unique to me because there are so many glowing reviews, but I don’t know how else to get the attention of the practice so this is a last ditch attempt.
I’m an existing patient, and I had a few appointments with Dr. Nino that were great and super helpful. I felt like I finally had a plan for rheumatology care. I had initially gone in to see Dr. Kane, but he encouraged that I see Dr. Nino before trying to explore any of that therapies he offers. Which I appreciated.
My current dilemma is around office communication. The last time they were responsive were while going through a prior authorization process a few months ago. It was suggested that I come in for some samples which I did. I appreciated how much they were willing to support admit the administrative snags. But since I have needed a refill of a different medication, I have not been able to reach anyone. Neither has my pharmacy. They faxed stuff (I think), and I had been calling and emailing. But after leaving multiple voicemails and sending emails without a call back/reply, I still don’t have a refill. Even if they would want me to come in because it has been awhile since my last appointment, I can’t schedule an appointment because I’m not in touch with anyone! It’s truly bizarre, and I don’t know if my care has been terminated for some reason and I just don’t know it or what. But not having a refill and then subsequently facing this delay and gap in community location has affected my treatment. I even wanted to try sending a fax myself but l can’t find a fax number. So I am at a loss.
It’s also confusing because I was supposed to start a new biologic in the midst of this (what the prior auth was for), and we lost contact. I don’t know that this was intentional by any means, but I have zero information. It has felt like a very different experience from what I initially felt starting at the office and going to my first few appointments. There’s a ton of patients, and I wouldn’t expect them to always anticipate things for me as I have v patient responsibilities to keep my provider updated as well. However, I had been doing my due diligence in reaching out and did not get anywhere. It has been at least 2.5 months since I needed the refill.
My ask to the practice: If I am still considered under your care, please email or call me so we can connect. I get emails about the pain support groups, so I know I’m in the system somehow. If this is a personal case where I can no longer receive care from you all, I just want to now that. And receive my medical records. I hope you understand that I’m posting this in good faith. I’ve seen a response to a low review in the past, so I’m hoping someone will at least see this and consider...
Read moreI could go on and on about how helpful and vital this office has been to my pain management, as well as overall health. I’ll try to keep it simple but I also want to communicate how incredible Dr. Siefferman and his entire staff have been. About a year and a half ago, I developed an extremely painful TMJ disorder that could not be ignored. The doctors I saw helped as much as they could but it wasn’t until I saw Dr. Siefferman that my pain actually became manageable enough that I was able to get a lot of my jaw function (and life) back. The TMJ disorder had been causing so much pain in so many different areas that it became overwhelming and confusing for me to understand what was actually happening with my body. But Dr. Siefferman’s wide range of knowledge and treatments have been integral in picking apart my different issues. When the chronic pain/inflammation throughout the rest of my body began to flare, Dr. Siefferman referred me to Dr. Nino, the rheumatologist in his office. I recently started seeing her and she’s been great. She ordered a bunch of tests and is determined to stick with me until we find a better understanding of and solution to my overall pain/inflammation. I’ve also met with Dr. Kane who is another amazing doctor in the office to discuss possible treatment options.
Having several doctors in one office with different specialties is so convenient, especially because when you’re in pain, it’s hard to travel to various offices. This way, they’re all in one place and can easily communicate so that there are less misunderstandings or breaches in your care. When care is needed outside the office, they have many referrals readily available.
Iliana, Adam, Tiffany, Luisa… the entire staff has been so warm, welcoming, and patient. I struggle with anxiety and get overwhelmed easily but they make you feel heard and seen. Another hard part about pain is that it can flare unpredictably but despite the office’s busy schedule, they try to fit me in if I’m having a pain emergency. So relieving!
TL;DR: Dr. Siefferman and everyone at Manhattan Pain Medicine have been incredible in helping me manage my pain and working to understand the root causes of what’s going on. They’re very knowledgeable, kind, empathic, and do what they can to work with you regarding things like your schedule. They understand pain and just like you, have the goal of getting you...
Read moreI went there yesterday to find a new pain management doctor. Being so young and living with pain is very hard. Adam and Dr. Siefferman were so knowledgeable and patient. They don’t rush you and really make sure all your questions are answered. Coming from NJ it was a little bit of a hike but well worth it. Dr. Siefferman diagnosed me with more things that other doctors didn’t catch. I also love that Dr. Nino their Rheumatologist works hand in hand with Dr. Siefferman. They came up with a wonderful treatment plan for me while working together to figure out what’s best. I did get a procedure done in the office which the dr learned more about my case. The office is clean and the front staff and medical assistants are so sweet as well! They worked with our scheudle so that I don’t have to drive in multiple times but once for 2 appointments. I highly recommend them! And am very happy that I found a new Rheumatologist and pain management doctor! Thank you Adam, Dr. Siefferman, and Dr. Nino for all your help.
Update: Dr. Siefferman, Dr. Nino, Dr. Barbiere and Adam have changed my life completely. They are helping me manage multiple chronic conditions. They are easily accessible through email and they still every time take the time out to make sure I get what I need in the office. I usually spend up to 1hr-2. I can’t recommend this office enough. It’s wonderful to have a team who really listens to you and understand you and not just gaslight you. Everyone’s bedside manner is amazing. I love coming here not just because I’ll be out of pain but also because the staff are so patient, caring, and fun...
