LIC Dog Park — Attraction in New York

Lots more space and real terrain (gravel instead of gross hard flat pavement like the fancy schmancy dog park by the river) for the dogs to run laps around all afternoon, and plenty enough space to play a good old game of fetch. Also has a covered area for sunny days when an you want some shelter from the sun, and a smaller fenced off area for little pups who don’t, err, play well...

Pretty great dog park! It has gravel as the surface, but it's relatively high quality and mostly rounded off. Two sections, which is useful for those with smaller or unsociable dogs. Large area for dogs to run, usually extra bags, and the regulars keep it clean. Watch that you don't lose a more athletic dog over the back wall, which is quite short. And grab yourself a slice...

This dog park seems highly rated, so I went with my puppy. It was a nice size and had two zones for larger and smaller dogs, but what I don't get (and neither my pup or myself liked) is that the ground is covered in small stones... No grass, no dirt. Stones.
