Let me tell you—Medgar Evers College is a hidden gem that deserves way more credit than it gets. If you’re looking for a school that actually invests in its students, provides countless opportunities, and fosters a strong community, MEC is where it’s at.
First off, the professors who care, REALLY care. Shoutout to Professor G. McMillan, Professor X. Rose, and Professor A. Okereke; they don’t play about making sure students get the knowledge and put in the work. The coursework? Challenging but rewarding. If you apply yourself, you’ll walk away sharper, more prepared, and ready to take on the world.
Now, let’s talk about campus life, because MEC does not let students just come and go without offering experiences that make college worthwhile. The activities? Endless. Whether you’re into sports, Greek life, leadership programs, or student organizations, there’s a space for you to grow and thrive.
And let’s not forget the trips. I’m talking about all-expenses-paid, knowledge-packed, fun-filled trips, both in and out of state, where you get to learn, connect, and explore in a new setting. And if you’re a foodie? The school is always throwing down with brunches, luncheons, dinners, and breakfasts that give students a chance to network while enjoying a good meal.
The resources are consistently on point, both on and off-campus. Need financial assistance? There are scholarships and programs constantly being offered and awarded. Need motivation? MEC brings in influential Black leaders from high and low places to drop gems in powerful lectures. Need a community that respects and acknowledges your values and beliefs? MEC has that, too.
And when it comes to big events and functions? MEC knows how to plan and execute for the benefit of its students. Whether it’s professional networking, academic enrichment, or just a celebration of culture and achievement, they show up and show out.
Now, no school is perfect so some departments can be a little unorganized and some staff might make things more difficult than they need to be. BUT, there are many who step up, correct mistakes, and do their best to guide students in the right direction. The dedication from those individuals makes a huge difference.
Final verdict? MEC is more than just a school, it’s a whole experience. If you take advantage of everything it has to offer, you’ll walk away with more than just a degree. You’ll walk away with knowledge, connections, experiences, and a stronger version of yourself.

Read moreMedgar Ever College is my college. As a graduating senior, this college became an integral part of my life's existence. For almost five years now __this college had sheltered me from all emotional turmoils I went through and is the college I am in while I worked on my inner childhood traumas as well as adulthood traumas:
I used their swimming pool and pool tables (before Covid locked down)to unwind from the stressed of my ongoing court hearings due to child custody that has been going on since 2017.
But it was the Free Guitar Lesson, given by Male Dept Center on Carroll Building, that helped me tremendously: I was able to honed my 4 guitar chords I briefly learned from my hs sophomore during our intramurals.
Upon registering at the guitar room, I bought a guitar 2 days later and started strymming on it at home, and then I wrote music, the next day I wrote a poem -- and put them together and played it to the Mentor the next day who told me I am musically "inclined". And the rest was history: I have written more than 20 songs from 2019 March - Feb 2023 (yep, I continue writing, as my hobby) 🙏♥️
English is not my first language, but I didn't let it become my hindrance in writing and singing and publishing my songs. I felt so grateful to feel embarrassed for it! So, I shared 🥰 🙏❤️
You can find my song on YouTube by typing in "Mantra by Analie"
All my songs has meaning. Mantra is about letting go. And healing from heartches healthily--meaning, no numbing with alcohol and other drugs or binge eating. Instead, learn to let go, do meditation and be aware of the consequences of resorting on alcohol and other drugs, and that, if you cannot avoid ingesting them__at least do so moderation.
Because, it is better to be sober and alert in dealing with life's pains and agonies: we will have the capacity to understand where we went wrong and be able to think of all possible solutions that are healthy and safe, so that we can move on and be happy again.

Read moreThis college is the worst. The real estate course is the worst by far. Someone said "Most professors expect you to read the textbook and get the material on your own without teaching or bother to answer your question" This is true. I wouldn't had paid $500 to just read a dam book. I could do that home and not waste my $500 and then go take the state exam. The only thing I'm told is read the book or you wont pass. Why the school just don't charge for the book and give the 75 hrs. No they charge you $500 for you to be told to just read the book and then you have to take exam after the class; which is harder than the state exam and its unfair. Most people in the class are working people and don't have time to read an entire book. I know its our responsibility and we will, but why make the school exam harder then the state exam. This why the school do not have a high rate of people passing the class for REAL ESTATE. If anyone is thinking about taking the R.E class, I would think twice. I would go to another school. Until they change the policy here, no one will really pass. Students will have to take it twice or pay again and its unfair.
Something need to be done. Actually teach and not just have us by a book dam near $60 to tell us just read. Then the school exam harder than the state. Most of the stuff you learn as you go and hands on. I hope someone from the school get on...
