When I saw Ming I had limited range of motion in my left hip. I could move my leg in Straight lines, forward, back and side with limited heights. No pivoting. No twisting. You will never know how much you need something until it’s taken away. When I did accidentally twist or pivot, the PAINNN was excruciating. I had torn my right side labrum in 2020. I knew that pain and it was tolerable compared to this injury. This would paralyze me for a minute or more, I couldn’t even speak except for the sound of pain I’d yelp. I see Ming, he takes the time to observe my natural movements and quickly deciphers what my injury needs. He worrrks! The man breaks a sweat. It’s easy to see that his goal is to get as much improvement as possible in your session. And lemme tell you. My other injury required 24+ sessions of PT, and almost a year of Pilates. After that 1 session with Ming, I regained 75% range back!! My eyes teared up because I felt hopeful that my injury could repair! Ming thinks outside of the box and he puts in the time!! We deserve to be pain free. I absolutely recommend Ming for your healing journey. 🤍

Ming has given me my life back.

My backstory prior to Ming: I am a 24yo male who works an office job but enjoys weightlifting, golfing, racket sports, skiing, staying active in my free time.

I first injured my right shoulder weightlifting in November 2022. I saw multiple doctors, received an X-Ray/MRI was told I have calcific tendinitis, and was given cortisone shots, which minimally helped. I was told I can return to weightlifting, and in the next couple months my left shoulder began hurting. I received a cortisone shot in that shoulder, and was told to go to physical therapy for both shoulders. I saw a traditional physical therapist for 8 weeks, who again only minimally helped my issues. I also developed neck/upper back pain during this timeframe (now July 2023). I was eventually diagnosed with a torn labrum in each shoulder after having more MRIs taken. I received one PRP injection in each shoulder in September 2023. Again, only minimally helpful.

I felt completely weak and vulnerable having so many injuries, and completely lost after a year of very minimal results. I wanted to do anything to avoid shoulder surgery (which was my doctor’s recommendation).

Seeing Ming: I was referred to Ming by a relative of mine who has been a longtime client of his. My first session with Ming was late November 2023. I saw immediate results. My left shoulder had always felt slightly loose out of place because of the torn labrum. After one session with Ming, he worked on my getting my rotator cuff muscles to “fire” again to hold my shoulder in place, and after 60 mins it felt stable again. As part of Ming’s method, he tells you that these results are a progression. For example, if your starting injury is 0% healed, after one session with him you can feel 60% better, but a couple days will pass and your new baseline may drop to 30% better. After another session you may jump to 70% better immediately. Again, a couple days go by and your baseline may drop to 50%, but then another session with Ming could have you at 80%. Your new baseline may jump to 75%. So on and so forth. Ming and I worked on both shoulders, my neck, and my upper back with these progressions. He also provided supplementation advice, and recommended I purchase his book for stretches to perform on my own, as well as another book for nutrition advice. I saw Ming for about 12-15 sessions because I had four injuries (both shoulders, neck, upper back), but I understand that less severe client cases will involve much less sessions with him in order to feel dramatically improved.

Given Ming’s background in bodybuilding, he also developed a plan for me to see him less for physical therapy sessions, and now for a few personal training sessions to help me develop a safe weightlifting plan. The weightlifting plan is my new “therapy for healing” as he puts it. I also I am back in the gym 4x a week on my own now, and in the interim I have seen him a couple times for “tune-up” physical therapy sessions to help with body parts that we discovered had bothered me during the weightlifting, such as tennis elbow while benching, or my hamstring during deadlifting.

My quality of life has dramatically improved since I first saw Ming in Nov 2023- and I attribute this completely to him. My injuries are a collective 95% better, I am back in a weightlifting routine, and I am back to my regular life activities that I love to do. I am confident mentally and physically again. I can safely say I have avoided a need for surgery in both shoulders. I have a newfound appreciation for health, wellness, and how to care for my body. I do not know where I would be had I never been referred to him. I am seeing strength progress in the weightroom, and am continuing with his stretching and supplementation routine.

In a strange way, I am thankful for my injuries. Had I never incurred them, I would have never been introduced to Ming- he has taught me the correct ways to live a healthy life and avoid future injuries. I can tell that he is passionate about my progress and truly cares to...

Imagine a healer with a once in a generation gift, but who resided in the far reaches of Tibet. Now imagine that same person, but residing in NYC, with degrees from Columbia University and NYU, author of the acclaimed The Permanent Pain Cure, and a former Mr. New York bodybuilding champion.

Ming is a physical therapist / healer with a gift beyond anyone I have ever seen. What differentiates him is pure and simple - that he is effective. He typically resolves issues within one visit, and if not he will tell you by the second visit if a third is warranted or if he's done all he can. He's not about booking three times a week for 5 weeks, etc. He also gives you his undivided attention. He doesn't book three clients at a time while playing round robin as others do.

Ming is about resolving your issues, and not about scheduling a series of visits. Furthermore, you can visually see the energy he expends in a session as he typically ends drenched in sweat. This is not a 15 minute Theragun/Hypervolt session, while he's checking his phone. He is doing a total body assessment to determine root causes vs. treating symptoms and then delving into incredibly deep tissue therapy to break up scar tissue and adhesions often contributing to source issues.

On two occasions I have flown into NYC from California specifically to see Ming. My sport is Windsurfing, on the North shore of Maui. On one occasion I landed a jump and heard a pop in my knee. For the three subsequent months that I couldn't get to Ming, but tried countless massages and physical therapy, I thought I had permanently damaged my knee. I could no longer sit in a chair or get in my car one leg at a time. I had to lean back carefully bending both knees and then pivot. When I finally saw Ming, he resolved the issue within one session! As usual, the issue wasn't the actual knee, but the surrounding areas.

My most recent issue had to do with my forearm, in which I foolishly tried to hold my windsurf board as a monster wave crashed over me. I nearly dislocated my arm, and certainly wrenched my forearm and elbow such that I could no longer do push ups or tricep press downs. Once again, he resolved the issue in a single visit!! I do preventative maintenance visits whenever I can get back to NY.

Ming does not take insurance assignment so you have to pay upon service. But ask yourself how much you would pay to be pain free.  Clearly, if he charged you based on success, you'd find his rates de minimis. I am relieved to know that Ming is teaching his method at seminars worldwide. His techniques should be taught to all therapists as nothing else is as effective or efficient. If in doubt, you only need ask the countless high profile athletes like Jason Kidd or action film stars that Ming has helped

I highly recommend Ming for any pain you have that’s...

Ming Chew – Healer

Luckily, I met Ming by accident 20 years ago, I was introduced to Ming by a friend that Ming had healed from a serious foot injury. I was suffering from a frozen shoulder. I could not get dressed alone; I could not raise my left shoulder. I had seen 3 doctors and they all told me I needed surgery, I refused this. I scheduled with Ming and in 3 45-minute sessions he completely fixed my shoulder and today 20 years later, my shoulder remained strong and healthy. In Ming’s sessions he does the work to repair the joint and gives you a series of lifestyle changes and stretches to stay healthy – tremendous value. Ming also wrote a very important book; I use on a regular basis, very user friends and to the point: “The Permanent Pain Cure.” I live an extremely active lifestyle, this past summer I injure my knee and walking downstairs was extremely painful. I was worried my knee joint was comprised, so I went to an orthopedist after much expense and many visits. I knew I needed to see Ming; indeed, he fixed my knee in a few sessions. Ming brings much added value as a former competitive Bodybuilder. Ming gives clients a wealth of healthy living information, during each visit. Seeing Ming is like going to school, I have learned so much about how to stay well healthy, active and fit. I see Ming on a regular basis, being proactive “tune-up” sessions. Ming is an expert in many areas, his skill with FASCIA keeps me young and moving pain free, while staying strong thusly getting most of my life. Ming has developed revolutionary soft tissue techniques, that allow our body to heal and for good. Ming’s approached healing and physical dysfunction is at a much higher level than most all PTs As a former athlete I have seen many over the years. Ming is a true healer – he goes directly to cause of the problem. Extremely hard working and commitment to exceptional results with his work. I always know when I see Ming I In Summary As a former competitive athlete staying strong and healthy is very important to me. Feeling great and vital to me is critical for me to maintain my personal joy and happiness. Staying healthy and keeping your wellness takes effort – seeing Ming makes this effortless. Ming has kept me strong and young at 66 years old, I am effortlessly deadlift 450lbs in the gym 4 days per week walking 2 hours per day, in the summer riding my bike10-20 miles per day and, hiking in the mountains, I have tons of good strong energy...
