This was the worst haircut experience I’ve ever had. I clearly asked at the start if there was a problem with me being there and even offered to leave if needed. They assured me it was fine, but the experience that followed was anything but.
From the start, the lady(hairdresser) made me feel unwelcome with cold, dismissive behavior and sarcastic responses. Despite my efforts to be polite and engage, the hairdresser was rough, rushed, and uninterested in providing good service. The way the razor and comb were used felt rough and unkind, which made the whole experience even more unpleasant.
What stood out was the clear difference in how I was treated compared to other customers, who were greeted warmly, engaged in conversation, and wished “Happy Holidays.” I, on the other hand, received no such courtesy and was even met with what felt like exclusionary behavior.
I brought up leaving if there was an issue, but they insisted on continuing, only to treat me poorly throughout. When I mentioned at checkout that I wouldn’t be returning, they seemed indifferent.
I wouldn’t recommend this salon to anyone. Customers deserve a welcoming and respectful environment, and sadly, that was not my...
Read moreJust recently moved up to the upper west side area and was browsing all over Yelp and Google for a new barber. I'm a relatively simple haircut and don't require anything too fancy and usually just want to go in and out. Decided on this one after finding some reviews of other places in the area and wanted to just take a shot. I walked in. Got seated right away. Just happened to have a seat open up. To preface this I sat with a barber. Andrew, he's my guyyy... Overall, the whole experience was excellent. He just quickly asked me what I was looking for and what I wanted described it to him and he got right to it. The whole place fits maybe four barber chairs and was bright and clean as I sat in there. Overall the haircut took maybe 15 minutes. Did a great job and asked if there's anything else to do at the end. Price was reasonable I think for this day and age and especially being in Manhattan for just a haircut was $30.. Will be...
Read moreI was in town for the week, looking for a decent beard shape and trim on the upper west side. I came across Barber Shop 72; however there were very few reviews on shape and trims. I decided to place my face in their hands and I was not disappointed at all! To say I was pampered is an understatement. From the moment my butt touched the chair I felt like true royalty. There was no feeling of being rushed, no feeling of just another dollar. But true, honest craftsmanship (craftwomanship? For a female Barber did my trim and shave). A electric trim, hot towel, amazing lather and true artwork with a straight razor sets barber shop 72 above and beyond anywhere I've ever been. The next time I am in town, anywhere in NYC I plan on making a special effort to feel like a king...
