Miriam’s African Hair Braiding — Local services in New York

Update today 3/4/24- My cornrows look older than 2 weeks and I do tie it up at night. I blew my hair out with a blow dryer straightener before braiding them. Another stylist said it could be that my natural hair was not tucked as it was being braided. I may go back for natural hair cornrows again for under wearing under wigs but for extensions not to sure.

02/19/24- I was going to do more price matching for half cornrows/half knotless braids. I went into Miriam's as I saw it was empty and asked her the price. She said $160 and I need to buy the hair. Compared to other prices on the Ave it was one of the best. I went to get 3 packs of hair which was almost $20. When I arrived back to the shop, another client was there. The braider I forget her name started around 130pm and I left around 830pm. Miriam had done the cornrows and the lady knotless. With breaks, prayer time and her helping Miriam was maybe an hour in where my hair was not being braided.

08/23- I went here once last year for cornrows for under my wig. Tina did them. They were neatly done. Today, I stop by to show a video on boho twist. Not sure if it was Miriam but the lady said no, no I don't do that. I said anyone else does it here saying no no. The shop was closing but it's a way going about things. I had an amazing experience getting my hair braided by Miriam! She was incredibly fast (5 hours for small knotless braids) and diligent, crafting a flawless and neat look that I absolutely love. I have some shorter portions of hair, and she managed to catch them into the braids perfectly without making them too tight, which I really appreciate and we left those baby hairs out.
