Yesterday, I went to the IDNYC Enrollment Center located inside this library. Big mistake on my part. I would advise others to avoid doing the same because the staff here generally tends to be excessively rude, obnoxious, combative, flippant, dismissive or some combination of the above. In particular though, the employee in the photograph takes the cake of the day. I simply went to her work station to ask a question regarding my application. Considering the fact that I have been waiting three weeks without any communication from them, I should have been snappy at the very least - yet I purposely went about being calm and polite in spite of this. Before I could even get four words out of my mouth, she shouts at the top of her lungs in a rude manner "I can't answer questions now" and storms away from me. No attempt to even find me another employee who could answer my question, nothing. Still, I kept my calm and politely tried to ask her whom I could go to. Would you believe she then waved me off and turned her back on me demonstratively? Unbelievable. I then decided to take her photo and explain to her that I would be leaving this review since the public deserves to know the type of customer service they will receive when they visit a place. I didn't even get any closer to her, in fact I took the photo from at least 20 feet away. She decides at this point to scream at the top of her lungs again for security and tells them that "I'm not allowed to take photos of her." Wrong, as I explained to her - it is a public place. Even the security guard who responded to the incident fully agreed with me and had to admonish this lady (and I use the term 'lady' loosely, considering her behavior) to keep her voice down. If you for some reason absolutely have no other choice and decide to patronize this location, do so at your own risk!

The Queens Central Library is a great place to relax and find amazing selections of books and other tools. It's very organized and tidy with very nice and polite staff that will help out when you are looking for something. There is a separate Children's section with two floors (one for for younger kids like baby and grade school. The second floor is for middle schoolers and there is computers as well)< Both floors have a librarian at a desk to help out. Next there is the Teens section which is wide and big and soo many good books to choose from. There is also a desk where you ask for help from librarian inside. There is different rooms like the Quiet room to read books, the conference room, and the Multipurpose room where they have activities usually. The Adult section is the rest of the library which is huge. The audio and movie had its own section near the help desk. There is a central library cafe inside as well with great deserts and coffee or even lunch. There is an auditorium in the basement which for shows that happen time to time it's pretty big. Overall great library. A bus terminal right across the library, easy access able with wheel chair, and there are plenty of restrooms.

I love the Central Library because it's where I go to get books for free. The library itself is a jewel. The facility is nice, clean and welcoming. I always see the staff helping people. There are plenty of computers here and laptops are available for checkout within the facility. (You will need a library card to use the WiFi.) This library does an excellent job of prominently displaying interesting, relevant and new books. I typically browse the book shelves in the Children's Library Discovery Center for books to take out for my two year old. If I can't find a certain book, I will put in a request online and it arrives in the Reserve section several days later. I appreciate how easy it is to check out and return the books. There are plenty of programs year round for families, children, teens, and adults, whether it is hands-on science labs, a teen coding club, a jazz concert, or a job search workshop.

On April 15,2025 I went into this library to get some work done on computer I first used the bathroom and was on my way out the door to get something to drink and come back to library on my way out I heard the security guard said look at that girl I turned and saw 3 security and a man standing near them looking at me I walked pass them out the door the tall big doofy guard made a sound like vomiting as I walked pass i turned to look if their talking about me the other tall doofy security guard looked on watching me leave, when I came back in the security with the disrespectful sound affect was hiding his face after giving me a hello nod and couldn't look me in the face the other guard said she's looking at you

he turned his face to look outside I walked away ,this is the kinda of degrading behavior that goes on at this library it's also a private library most people are not aware. No one has ever !!! Looked at me and saw a girl I'm also from the public sector live and work in that sector ,I was discusted to experience these low grade black men disrespectful uneducated manner these are the kind of men our mothers and fathers and educators warn us about to stay away from, a third man stood with the security trying to impress this fool with a story about a woman he's

seeing. i am a woman in my 50s and the only people who believe I look bad are mentally ill people with bad intentions, furthermore anyone who knows me can see my light shines bright and I'm a no nonsense person, I lived in new York all my life and that's the worst library I've ever experienced every one else have better conduct and better customer service elsewhere!!!!! If the library is going to continue to allow this behavior from their staff to the community they don't need to be there or getting funded to degrade God's people, life experience and education teaches that these disrespectful people are not only miserable but also cowards they don't stand up for the right things instead attack people when they think their down and out .!!!!!!! People like them don't go far in life 🙂and that's how karma works👍

If you have problems with the library you can contact the people who fund them which is / the mayors office/ the borough president and city council. This library don't have any written standard of what i.d or documents you need to get a library card or pin number so they refuse other government i.d then ask for a mail to confirm your address then want you to open it to steal your info.

10years ago in 2015 I had the same kinda of experience with...
