As Morgan's Market is an independently owned business I understand their prices can't compete against the bigger name markets in the neighborhood, but I still drop by because of the short time to wait for breakfast, lunch, coffee and or other necessities. The guy taking the order at the deli has always been easy going and personable. And the woman and men behind the register are always friendly, helpful and courteous. Even when I am in a rush to get outside, they are always friendly and patient with me and my pushyness for them to hurry. My experience seeing other customers treat the employees as if they are attempting to steal their money is truly disheartening, concerning and absurd. If you're having an issue then ask to speak with management, stop getting upset with the employees and instead complain about the store policy to management. My experience with non-fluent English speakers is to be patient because when I talk I may say a word or few they aren't familiar with and what they believe I said in their attempt to understand my statements, requests and or silly attempts at humor. Especially before my first cup of coffee. Again my personal experience is the customer(s) in front of me having a bad day and taking it out on the working people behind the counter/register. Morgan's Market and the people who work there are like all of us, not perfect but show up and do our best dealing with other imperfect people. Thank you for being in the neighborhood Morgan's Market and...
Read moreI used to come here all the time (around 2 years ago and before that even before the pandemic) and I used to buy an egg and cheese croissant and the price came up to be 4 to 5 dollars. I went back today and ordered the same thing and the price had gone up to 8 dollars. I get it prices rise but this is absurd. It’s not organic and took less than 3 minutes to make. Also I took one photo of their fruit cus it was well organized and a worker told me I’m not allowed to take pictures??? What type of deli is this? Even museum lets you take pictures. They had a sign which I didn’t notice because it’s some where inside the store *(should have one in the door entry if it’s that serious). * For the price I’m paying I should be able to have a photo shoot in there. I’m never going back.
Reply: I’ve been to places all over the city yours is the priciest, the cost of eggs has gone down since the avian flu outbreak issue started. I buy an organic carton of eggs for 11.99- and a regular for about 5$. So no the math isn’t adding up regarding your cost. But it’s okay for you to do it anyway because you’re at a fancy neighborhood so toots to you! And regarding the picture! I’ll rip it up as soon as I get the print to protect the privacy of the fruits if it helps ✌️ As I said I’ll take my...
Read moreSimply put it's the most economically costly convenience store in the neighborhood.
The positive: the staff here is actually very friendly and you get to know them personally. Makes this feel like an actual local neighborhood market that caters to you. They also have a great floral selection.
That being said:
Go two blocks down to whole foods for cheaper produce/flowers.
Go a block down to chambers for cheaper grill options
Go three blocks to Stuyvesant for a wider selection of options
Literally go across the street for cheaper (arguably better) coffee
I come here often, it's convenient because it's directly on my route to the 456 train but if I took the 123 I'd be going to chambers street.
They also .50-.75 upcharge on all card based transactions depending on the item purchased.
I understand it's hard running a family operated convenience store in Tribeca, there's a reason why this is the last one standing - however purely on economics it's just the least viable...
