Read moreThe Odeon used to be one of our favorite spots for brunch, drinks, and occasionally dinner. We found out about The Odeon about a year after it opened (the 80's). That was before marriage, kids, and a house in the suburbs. My husband and I both worked in the city and were always going to new hot spots with our friends. A close friends boyfriend was a bartender at a "club" and one of his frequent patrons told him about it. I will fast forward over 30 years and we recently dined here for brunch with my son, who is a recent Tribeca resident. His suggestion, as I had totally forgotten about this little gem. We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and seated at an eh table crowded in between a lot of other tables. Our waiter was terrific, very attentive, and handled my reminiscing with a smile. I ordered the Croque Monsieur and Parmesan Fries. They were both hot, delicious, and great way to start the day. My husband ordered the burger and was a very happy camper. His exact words were "This is not the best burger I have ever had, but pretty close." My son went with the Three Egg Omelette because he wanted it stuffed with his choices. I was keeping my fingers crossed that they still made the sugar donuts and they did! We should have ordered more than one because they were warm, cinnamony, and dipped in the accompanying sauces divine. Our meal was very good, our waiter was perfect for us, and every staff member was helpful and attentive too. My only complaint was that the tables were to close together and made for many bumps as staff and patrons passed by. We tried to move the table to reduce the bumps for one of us, but there really was nowhere to go. I am glad that my son passes by on his way to work each day as I got to relive a little taste of my...
Read moreThis past Friday evening, my wife and I decided to head to The Odeon without a reservation, a bit of a gamble, considering how iconic this place is. Situated in the heart of downtown NYC, The Odeon is a legendary spot with a rich history and timeless appeal. It’s the kind of restaurant that instantly transports you to the New York of another era, while still feeling vibrant and relevant today. Despite arriving without a booking, we were warmly greeted by a gracious lady at the front desk whose welcoming smile set the tone for the night. To our pleasant surprise, we were seated immediately, a rare treat in a city known for its packed dining rooms. We started the evening with a Cosmopolitan, and it was simply perfect. It’s one of those classic cocktails that can go either way, but The Odeon absolutely nailed it, well-balanced, crisp, and beautifully presented. We shared a few appetizers to begin (each one delicious and thoughtfully prepared), and then moved on to our main courses. I ordered the Steak and Frites, which was cooked to perfection — juicy, flavorful, and accompanied by crispy fries. My wife had the salmon, which was equally impressive. Throughout the meal, the service was exceptional. Attentive, friendly, and effortlessly professional, the staff made us feel relaxed and well taken care of without being intrusive. It’s clear that customer experience is a priority here, and it truly elevated our night. All in all, our dinner at The Odeon was a perfect blend of great food, excellent service, and iconic New York charm. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is one of those restaurants that captures the spirit of the city in all the right ways. Highly...
