Non-Traditional Wedding DJs — Local services in New York

My hubby & I booked with NTWedding DJ’s over a year out from our wedding date (10.04.24). We met with the owner, Ben, via zoom along with our original DJ to discuss the type of music, announcements, etc we wanted for our wedding. Ben would do frequent check in’s as the wedding got closer which was always professional and helpful. He always kindly answered any questions we had. Two weeks before our wedding, due to unforeseen circumstances, we were switched with another DJ, DJ Jonathan, and honestly, it was meant to be! By the way, I am an Art Factory Bride (if you know, you know; please search if you do not because it is too long to post here). We were BEYOND stressed and scrambling to find another venue just ONE week before our wedding date. Ben truly cared for us and provided us with venue recommendations and offered his support. Luckily, we were able to find a place in time that was bigger and better; The View in Jersey City, NJ. There was no issue with Ben or Jonathan due to the sudden change in venues. They were truly happy for us that everything worked out!

We met with DJ Jonathan a couple of days prior to our wedding and he knew exactly what we wanted. We are of Hispanic culture, so we definitely wanted to reflect that in our music, while also having a blend of 90’s/00’s R&B, Reggae classics, 2020’s rap, etc. He did just that! Our guests were telling us all night how amazing the playlists were and they were having a great time! A big plus- DJ Jonathan is so kind, genuine, and personable and it helped us feel more comfortable and trust him considering all of the changes we had to endure in such a short amount of time.

We are forever grateful for Ben and Jonathan. I’d recommend them to anyone!! I kind of wish I had another event coming up so I can hire them again! Lol!

The events leading up to our wedding were nothing short of chaotic, however, it is true when they say “Everything happens for a reason!” We found an even more beautiful venue and an even better DJ that did the damn...

Matt absolutely CRUSHED it at our wedding on Saturday. Words cannot begin describe how appreciative we are. He made our wedding so incredibly special and managed the vibe to get the crowd's immediate buy-in from a very bright, holy Catholic wedding to somehow the most crazy, enthusiastic, joyful dancing spirit I have ever seen out of our guests. Seriously. He was so core to our wedding guest experience and he made ZERO mistakes and made over ONE MILLION perfect decisions. He absolutely was a key party ambassador from start to finish, and we are so so so so so so grateful. We cannot say enough great things about him. Everyone was obsessed with him... aka "DJ Adam Driver"! Here's only a short, abbreviated list our favorite core memories from the evening:

Walking out to "This Will Be" and weaving through our tables to the dance floor Perfectly fading into our first dance song and cheering us on Cutting the cake to "Sugar" and tasting that wonderful cannoli icing.... um yum! Sun shining through the windows during the entree course while Matt was playing some of our favorite EDM songs Dancing with my dad to "Sweet Caroline", people shouting "so good so good so good!!!" and the dance floor opening - chills! Dinner guests swinging around their napkins on the dance floor Throwing it back to some Cardi B with my good girlfriends Dancing with my flower girls to Charlie XCX - iconic! Ending the night with "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra

We knew that our wedding would be a great time, but still we were absolutely blown away and our expectations were alarmingly exceeded. We cannot think of enough compliments to give not just Matt but the entire NTW DJs team. We feel that we only saw a sliver of the team's very hard work and care that was put into our wedding. The results were perfect... It felt so personal, so joyful, and so professional. We don't know how you all pulled off the perfect day, but it's a long long long list of very happy memories that we will talk about every single day for the rest...

Working with Non-Traditional Wedding DJs was one of the best vendor experiences we had at our wedding. The communication is fast, clear, and catered to you. We had many conversations both via email and on calls and you could tell they were listening to us as we worked towards creating the event that we wanted. We never felt any pressure for changes or upsells, though they have some options beyond just DJ services that in another world we would absolutely use (photobooth! More Lights!). We have zero complaints about any part of this process and also feel that the package was extremely well priced.

Before selecting them as our DJ vendor, we were nervous that we might get someone who made too many announcements in the stereotypical DJ voice (we've all heard it at a wedding right?), but the whole execution of our evening was so genuine and thoughtful. The DJ met us on our level and it felt like she could sense how we wanted the night to feel even as it evolved on the day.

That brings me to the DJ specifically. Flavya made our night what it was-- multiple people came up to us at the end and said that was the best DJ they had ever seen. She was kinda and fun, and she fit in to our whole evening. We originally thought about using a good friend who DJs to do our wedding, and in the end it feels like Flavya was that and so much more. She was so friendly, made sure to check in, and the decisions she made throughout the night seemed like she was reading our minds!

She incorporated our suggestions effortlessly while adding amazing additions. The flow of the night was perfect and most of our friends never left the dance floor. From start to finish, the mix was amazing-- no song was too short or too long, we were truly watching an artist at work.

I highly recommend this company and I highly recommend DJ Flavya. If you're on the fence or have a few vendor options to decide between, this is your sign to go with Non-Traditional...
