The East River ferry is a joke. I’ve tried to take this Ferry twice, today and the about seven years ago. Seven years ago I bought a ticket and then got turned away for capacity reasons. Majorly pissed off tembeb. Then just today I bought three tickets to get me and family on the ferry. The ferry attendant lectured the crowd of 50 about not getting into line. How about painting some lines on the floor or preparing people ahead of time to form a line that’s what you want? Or having someone there to do some line control? At any rate then they let off maybe 10 people off the ferry and then lecture the crowd more about not forming a line. At a certain point they just didn’t let anybody on and basically everybody got turned away having bought tickets already. could not tell what the attendant was saying at all…I don’t think it was capacity to be honest because they let off more people than they let on. So basically all these people bought tickets for no reason and wasted at least 30 minutes out of their life. What a joke.
Also the times on the website do not match the times listed at the dock, and the ticket prices printed at the dock do not match the ticket machine.
the one time in the last i successfully rode this ferry it was nice but being able to get on this ferry from N Williamsburg is honestly a potential gamble on throwing away your money and time. American transit, what more...

Another worker told me the next boat would be in 10-15 minutes, 10 minutes later someone else asked and was told 10-15 minutes. It seems that’s their default response and not really helpful. We were told to get on one boat when it arrived but then were not allowed on the boat as we got closer to the boat itself. There seemed to be a “miscount” between the boat worker and the dock workers which resulted in us waiting another...you guessed it...10-15 minutes for the next boat. One dock worker told us there was a bathroom on the boat, once on the boat, we were told there were no bathrooms. Come on. Great views of the...
Read moreI'm a huge fan of the Ferry. It a fast, efficient and pleasant way of getting from one place in the city to another. And let's not forget: the views on the Manhattan skyline are absolutely astonishing! But I got to be honest: I don;t like this landing. There is not protection against the sun or the rain. It is often very crowded, especially during weekends (Smorgasburg is right next to...
