I applied for Parkchester two weeks ago online. Yes I did see that there is a waiting list. However, I got an email from Irene Francis about 7-8 days ago, requesting pay stubs and what not for a “final approval “. Now in my mind, in most sane people minds, one would think an apartment was actually available. So I find out today from Irene, the final approval is to place me on a waiting list. I am originally from the Midwest. When I tell you New Yorkers speak and write like they have a 6th grade education? That’s what I mean. I called Irene, and told her 3 times in 3 different ways. I recently received a section 8 voucher two weeks ago. Section 8 voucher are only good for 120 days. I need to use it before it expires. I also need to use it before 12/31/2024. Reason being is because I currently have a program called rapid rehousing. This is a temporary housing program, that’s only good for a YEAR. I have been enrolled since Jan 2024 with my current lease. My lease ends 12/31/24. Therefore, I have to find an apartment before 12/31/24 to avoid homelessness. Irene goes I deal with section 8 long time, you can get an extension. Ok I can get an extension on the section 8 voucher, if I don’t find an apartment before it expires. But where the hell am I supposed to live after 12/31/24 if the Rapid Rehousing Program ends 12/31/24 you idiot? I told her to withdraw my application, the woman was literally speaking to me as if we grew up together. No professionalism at all. New York people are so nasty, uneducated and rude. This is a sanctuary state. They get any and everything they want handed to them. Why such nasty attitude? What do you really have to work for? I got this section 8 voucher because I am a DV victim. That’s it that’s all....

For example, if an elderly retired person makes double the rent they and are retired they cannot apply for a rental property here and from my experience will be treated very poorly by this staff they will provide limited guidance and if you dont seek further resources. This annual income policies for retirees actively engage in removing retirees on social security that can afford the rent from obtaining a rental apartment in Parkchester. This policy is egregious and should have an exception process for returning clients who can afford the rent good credit who have substantial collateral and liquid. The rental management company below should seriously review their policies as its disingenuous and unfair and from their lack of concern very concerning. We have worked with the follow below to specify.
We have dealt with the manager and several staff that all have zero concern or empathy or provide any helpful guidence.
My opinion in a review form based on my experience is that this leasing management company engages in unfair practices that prevent retired elderly applicants from being candidates for rentals. I would recommend as we are doing and getting a private lawer if you plan on engaging with this entitiy as its very very painful in my opinion. GET LEGAL REPRESENTATION if you are trying to rent from here if your elderly or else your options may be non existent by design of their own effort or intrest in you.

Read moreI used to love it here but management is slow and CHEAP!!! I had to wait 6 months for them to plaster and paint the apartment, specifically told them it needed a fresh coat in all rooms. They came plastered the holes and painted only over what was plastered. Now I have mismatched colored walls because they no longer carried the original color my walls were painted.
Also cleaned mold with bleach, hallways have giant water bugs, the one elevator is out every other week, the heat works when it wants to, doors on the apartment don’t close/ lock.
