Prospect Market — Local services in New York

Consistantly the absolute worst, namely the service. The grimacing attitudal cashiers show a gross lack of basic courtesy and social skills, unfortunately. Never have I spent my hard earned money there that I've heard the phrase "Thank you". To expect eye contact would be a far reach. These basic people skills are learned at home, not through job training. And people wonder why the economy is in peril. No one wants to pay to be treated like inessential individuals.

The inept Management team there and at the 5th Ave/Prospect Ave location is clueless when it comes to civility, nuance and regulation, as in numerous times, I've complained to them that dogs (not Service Dogs) are accompanying their entitled smug owners where I buy my food. Wth!

I am now in the process of contacting the proper entity (Health Dept, etc) in order to make them aware of the two stores unaddressed clear health code breaches.

A noticeable staff overhaul, including and starting with management is desperately needed and suggested. Please do what is necessary to raise the overall standards of the two afore mentioned...

I can find almost everything I want here at fair prices. It’s fresh, clean and bright and easy to maneuver. My complaint concerns the cashiers. More often than not over the past year, as I’m placing things on the conveyor and paying for my purchases, they’re engaged in conversation, either with each other or via earbud with a distant person. They keep it going at a low volume while they add things up, barely looking you in the eye. It’s an unpleasant experience. And yes these chats are in Spanish, which is not the language of most customers— The dual language thing facilitates the rudeness. I blame the manager first. I will be a loyal customer for as long as I live in the neighborhood! I love this market. They stock great food, including a nice selection of organic produce. The prices are competitive. The people who work here are ALWAYS pleasant and helpful. And they deliver! Their delivery service makes my life soooo much easier, there's an enormous selection of items available online (more than there are in the store, I think), and they charge an extremely reasonable delivery fee: $2.99.
