To me this experience was scammy.
Although the yoga class itself/instructor was good, I have to say it felt rushed and when I glanced back behind me I noticed most people were completely uninterested in the class and frankly looked bored. Staff were staggering the release of each puppy and collectively it looked like there were no more than maybe 4 puppies for the entire group (class held maybe about 30ish people) so as you can imagine, very very little actual puppy playtime per person. No one from the staff actually smiled and they looked miserable or tired...
I find it annoying that this was a hefty cost of $70 (with tax) for only roughly about 10-15 minutes of playtime with the puppies (if you get to touch/play one; not guaranteed) because the actual yoga class was 60 minutes. The whole class is advertised as 75 minutes of puppy interaction DURING the yoga. I didn't find that to be true. To me it was 60 minutes of yoga first, with 10ish minutes of "free time" to find a puppy to play with.
In my group of friends there was 1 friend who didn't get to even touch a puppy at all and a staff member asked to grab the puppy that was nearby to have another group of girls take a photo with him. We were like ok, but we just need the puppy back so our friend can get some puppy time with him. She said, "sure, if there's time." Confused, we were like how are you taking this puppy to have someone else get time with him when we are literally telling you that our friend had zero time. Doesn't seem fair. I think she could've been more flexible to be like sure of course like the 2-5 minutes after wasn't going to make or break this company and its operations nor the preparation for the next class (which was in 2+ hours from that one). Very inflexible. This is a very expensive price tag for what you are getting. Not worth it. Go to a shelter and get all the play time you want for free.
They did say that mimosas are included which I found weird....why does everything in Manhattan justify its pricing by including alcohol? Just really silly. If you want a mimosa, grab one at the bar next door. Or get a bottle of champs and a $2 box of OJ and make it yourself at your apt. Not sure why it was included in this experience. Felt like a filler...
Read moreI have always grown up with dogs and right now do not. In theory puppy yoga sounded so calmly and fun because dogs really are just the best. However it was not until I got to the class, did I realize how wrong and upsetting the whole concept is. As previous reviews said: They were using French Bulldogs; one of the most inbred breeds that exist. Only 6 adorable dogs for a room of 30 people. All were only 8 weeks old. Seems like crammed as many people in one space as possible. Definitely not even close to what I had hoped or the pictures they showed. To me this experience was scammy. It all felt very rushed. They said the rest room was flooded so there was no bathroom to use. The staff seemed very disinterest. The puppies were almost sedated and were in a big cage with a cover over the cage. The dogs immediately went to the bathroom on the yoga mats throughout the session and the staff spent the whole class cleaning after the puppies who were probably severely distressed. Also the smell was not very pleasant as a result. I came away feeling quite upset and dooped that I didnât realize beforehand that this is actually very cruel. Please stay away. This is not a...
Read moreI was really excited for the puppy yoga event, but it ended up being a pretty upsetting and costly experience. One of the Frenchie puppies bit me on the nose hard enough to draw blood, and I had to go to urgent care afterwardâresulting in a $200 medical bill.
Whatâs worse, this happened while multiple staff were distracted on their phones instead of supervising the puppies. They gave me a few alcohol wipes and assured me someone would follow up, but no one ever did.
I understand waivers are signed, but that doesnât waive a businessâs responsibility to maintain a safe environment and provide basic care or support when things go wrong. The lack of accountability and follow-throughâespecially when there are real physical and financial consequencesâis deeply disappointing. I genuinely hope the organizers take more responsibility moving forward. No one should leave a wellness event injured and stuck with...
