This is a very centrally located hotel to visit Manhattan. It is located about a block away from two subway stops which made traveling easy. When we decided to walk to and from destinations that seemed, at first, far away, they were quite walkable to enjoy the city(example: walking to Times Square, Grand Central Station, Chelsea Market). Our rooms were comfortable and had comfortable beds. The rooms were quite small with not much room to store our things. I figured this was to be expected in NYC in older buildings. We had two rooms; one for my husband and I and one for our two daughters. We did not get rooms next to each other, but they made it helpful by putting us on the same floor. Being that it is a narrow building with many floors, it was nice to find that each floor only had about 8 rooms and we were able to easily walk back and forth. | |One huge convenience was the elevators. We never had to wait. Even on the days the hotel was at capacity, the elevators arrive quickly. ||The air conditioning was ample and the shower was strong and refreshing. After hot days walking the city, it was a nice place to return to rest.||Breakfast was similar each day, but had some variations with the eggs and meat offerings. Everything was fresh and tasty for a hotel breakfast. Service staff at breakfast were always helpful. They replenished items as the morning would progress. ||The front desk staff was quite helpful and friendly as well. There were times only one person was available at the front desk and they were overloaded (but patient) with guest needs. Hopefully, this was a rare occasion as they were really in need of extra guest help. ||I loved how we were in the flower district. It was a beautiful sight to see each morning with the plants and flowers lining the street. My girls and I always kept our eyes open to try to get to pet one of the kitties that live at these nurseries. ||I would stay at this hotel again if I needed to. A few suggestions to escalate my experience would be:|-better lighting in the bathroom(we had lights that were out and didn't really have the chance to have them replaced [we usually don't have service to our room when we aren't present]).|-quick repair when there is a need. Our daughter's room phone did not work and we notified the front desk. No one followed up with us to attempt to change out the phone (we had cell phones so we survived and didn't insist on it).|-Thicker towels would be better. They...

The worst is contacting the hotel 4 different times the next day and getting completely unhelpful answers and no help at all. See for yourself. ||1. I called at 8:20am to report the issue - cold air coming out even thought the temp was set at 73 degrees. It’s like 48 outside. They said “sorry to hear that. Can you call back when you leave so I can ask the engineer then to look at it” What?! Why do I need to call back? I told them I will leave by 9am. |2. I messaged on Marriott app at 2:30pm to check on this. See photo. They responded sth like “we are helping other guests at the moment and will get back to you”. |3. I messaged again by dinner time saying will be back by 9pm and got the same type of message as the 2:30. Maybe the hotel has lots of issues and mine is just behind 20 others? And I am a gold elite member. |4. I came back at 9pm and asked the front desk if my heater in my room is fixed and she said “I called engineering but they never got back to me. So I don’t know if the heater is fixed. If you want, contact our general manager tomorrow, he can then give you some Marriott points for your trouble”. I couldn’t believe how little the front desk cared about fixing the issue that night. ||To add to this saga, we came home at 9pm with the bed not made (see photo)and garbage still there. Housekeeper decided I guess to just give us fresh bath towels and that’s it. Such sloppy service. ||I had no choice but to stay another night as it was late. The heater basically only worked if I turned it up to 78 degrees and then I had to manually shut it off and turn it on if needed. I had two terrible nights of sleep out of the 3 nights we stayed. First night the heater was fine and was set at 70 degrees. It’s an old hotel I guess. ||At 9am on our last day, I got a call from the assistant manager and she said she heard I had a complaint. I told her my saga and she gave me a night refund. I guess that’s something. This is why I increased this to 2 stars vs one. I would have rather had two nights of good rests though. Won’t be staying at this hotel again. Shocked that this hotel...
