PEOPLE, BEWARE! This place is the definition of "rip off"! They knowingly overcharge any chance they get, for example, they often charge tax on the taxed amount, tax the tax-included total on cigarettes saying "the price went up", the prices on sandwiches INCLUDE JUST THE MEAT AND THE BREAD ! If you want lettuce and tomatoes they charge anywhere from $1 to $3, no, I'm not kidding. They also charge more money after 11am for breakfast even though they cook it the whole day. If you catch on to the scheme, like, ask them what "misc" on your receipt means, the person who ripped you off will apologize and try to play it off as if it was done by a mistake but that's only IF you somehow catch on... The other huge, enormous, gigantic problem with this place is how ignorant, obnoxious and rude the management is, their prices change without notice and when they make mistakes its never their fault! And if you think you can win an argument with them... No, you can't, they will literally lie, shamelessly, make up policies, create rules on the fly or just be plain rude! My lunch started out at $7.50, when it crossed a $10 threshold I asked why the hell it became so expensive, the middle Eastern guy behind the counter said "no, Mai frent, you shood sei wai sou cheep food brazer". Seriously, It's worse than dealing with children because children might not know any better and these guys definitely should, it's too bad that they don't but they should. Lastly, maybe if the food was good I'd suffer through their chronic inability to conduct themselves professionally... But it's not, neither is the coffee, the reason I used to come here is because I was new to the area,...
Read moreGarden Deli is a tricky place to shop. I’d estimate that about 90% of the products they sell are not authentic—many are off-brand or knockoffs of the original manufacturer’s goods. If you don’t check carefully, you might find expired items on the shelves.
The food in their fridges often looks like it’s been sitting for days, and the hot food is frequently leftovers that have been reheated. Fruits aren’t organic and often appear processed or of low quality. I’ve personally gotten sick (diarrhea) multiple times after eating from this store, and I know co-workers who’ve had the same issue.
Prices at the deli counter are inconsistent—they sometimes make up prices on the spot. If you question them or point out an issue, they may become rude, angry, or even threaten to ban you. Some staff have made mean comments to customers, and I’ve seen them act in an unfriendly way toward others.
While the store is visually clean and organized, the products and food safety are not up to standard. If you want better service and fresher products, I’d suggest going to the smaller deli on 29th Street and 5th Avenue instead.

I wait and when I get the sandwich, it's $1 cheaper than on seamless, same additions and everything. I tell the cashier i ordered and paid for seamless and he tells m "we don't have seamless here". Then I speak to someone else who looks at my order (through the seamless app) and tells me there's no date. I then go to the email and show her the date and she apologized due to the "server being down." I then offer to take a bottle of water to compensate for the seamless charging me more and she denies it because the water is $1.25. Then another employee comes in with a printed receipt. I then go to the back and get a dollar juice and ask if it can be compensated. I am then told no, you would have to give us 20 cent because the juice wasn't taxed as yet. I then was told to just pay a dollar for the juice then I left. I ended up being late and spending more money than I had to. Hire...
