Note: There is a Grey Dog in Flatiron (this one) and one in Chelsea. We didn't even know there was more than one Grey Dog so we made a reservation at the Chelsea one by mistake. Chelsea officially ends on 6th Ave but this area kind of overlaps with Flatiron, so be aware.
We arrived thinking we had a reservation, but was mistaken so we had to wait. It was very crowded (Sunday morning) but we only waited about 10 minutes, so I wasn't bad.
Most of the items on the menu are fried. So that limited our choices. I ended up with the Classic Omelette which was good, but they forgot 2 of the 3 fillings, so it was mostly egg. (I did not order cheese, so it was supposed to be 3 veggies. Only got one) I did mention to server and she said "well i did put it in the order". I asked for jam for the toast and it was really good raspberry jam.
My dining partner got the Vegan Breakfast Burrito which she liked very much. It was super messy so we used a wad of napkins!
The HOME FRIES was the highlight of the meal. LOL
Iced Mint Tea was very good, but for $6 and no refill, it was only about 6 oz. of liquid. The rest of the glass was filled over the top with big ice cubes. I did ask for more given that i finished it and the glass was full of ice, but unfortunately, they don't give refills. Next time I would order without ice.
The Chai Latte with oat milk was good. Note: very sweet. And it was Vegan which is nice because some Chai mixes contain dairy.
All in all, it was good. Would I go back? Yes. The interior was cute too. I enjoyed sitting at a high top. Maybe next time I would sit outside, but it was a little too sunny and...

I came here with two friends and our dog thinking it would be a chill spot to enjoy some food. The food itself? It was fine. Nothing amazing. But what really ruined the experience was what came after.
First, the forced tipping pressure was out of control. We were just 2 people and a dog — and suddenly I’m looking at a suggested tip of 15% that’s nearly $20? Are you serious? I’ve seen other reviews say tipping is optional, but the way they make you feel about it is far from optional. It felt pushy and uncomfortable, like you’re being guilt-tripped into tipping big whether or not the service matched it.
Then comes the real kicker — the hypocrisy with our dog. When we first got there, one of the staff saw our dog sitting on the chair and said, “Ohhh, may I pet him?” Super friendly, no problem at all. But after I paid and tipped generously (because I’m not trying to be rude), he comes back to our table and suddenly tells us that dogs aren’t allowed to sit on the chairs — and with an attitude. Excuse me? You were cool with it before, and now you’re suddenly kicking us out after the bill is paid?
The whole thing felt shady and honestly disrespectful. I don’t go out to eat to be judged, manipulated into tipping a ridiculous amount, or to be told off for something your own staff clearly allowed at the start.
This kind of treatment is exactly how businesses lose loyal customers. Based on how inconsistent and passive-aggressive your staff was, it wouldn’t surprise me if people start avoiding this place. And honestly? I...
Read moreI come here every few weeks for brunch. Today’s experience didn’t start smooth, but soon became terrible. While placing an order, I asked for the latte to be hot (because usually it is only warm), I got a barely warm latte instead. I asked the waiting staff if it could be switched, they happily agreed, but the second cup was lukewarm at best. About 20 minutes after being seated, the water bottle was offered. The food always takes quite some time, I knew it going in. However, when I got my plate, there were no utensils on the table. I had to flag down someone to bring the utensils. I got a grey dog’s breakfast with sunny side up eggs, home fries, avocado, and French toast. There was no salt on the table, so I had to ask the table next to me for salt for the plain avocado because I gave up trying to flag someone. The food was cold, but okay. Then I realized the French toast was without butter or syrup and, honestly, overcooked, dry, and dense. I had to wait a few more minutes to ask for the butter and sauce. Of course the toast was so cold by then, the butter doesn’t melt and you’re eating cold chunks of butter. Halfway through, I felt something crunchy, which I realized was bits of chicken stuck under the toast. It’s like they took the toast from another plate and put it on mine. I’ve never had a dining experience where I had to wait for water, utensils, salt, got my food order incomplete and worst of all, with chunks of something I didn’t order mixed in. This is my first ever 1 star review, but I the dining experience was so disappointing, I couldn’t give...
