Roebling Rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park — Local services in New York

Don't go there. It was a horrible experience from beginning to end. They have 2 prices, peak and non-peak. They charged us peak price but the receipt showed non-peak price (shady) While getting the skates they have the rudest employees in NY. Screaming at everyone and incredibly angry. Where you sit to put the skates on is a damn sauna, incredibly hot. Also they mix the people coming out of the ice with the ones going in so you can imagine the amount of people in that small area. They have lockers but no locks, you need to buy them for $5 They charge $8 to store the baby stroller and they didn't accept cash, only cards, which we don't have since we are tourists. So the guy told us "give me $4 and I'll hold it for you" (more shadiness) Once in the ring, it is literally a pool. The ice is super melted They charge $20 for the skate helper that you need to go back in to pay (same issue with the cash) They let so many people in that you can barely skate The staff members in the ring were playing fool and idiotic, causing people to fall. My wife fell because of this stupid guy. We also went with a kid and it was so unsafe because of that I don't recommend this place at all. I wish I could get my money back. About $240 wasted.. edit I thought about this long and hard this week and believe that this ice skating rink/operation deserves a 1 star or 0 star review. One of the two blisters on my foot took 4 days to heal and it was painful for 4 days. I can't believe I paid money to experience this kind of pain caused by poor rental skates, failure to sharpen skates and polish the ice properly. People need to see the number of 1 star reviews here and take note.

This place is a 2 star experience at best and the most disappointing compared to the other ice skating rinks I've been to in the city. Why?

limited to 1 hour of skating very small rink terrible skate rentals. No support, narrow and hurts your feet. Every second of every minute of the hour felt like pain and now I have two blisters on my feet. The blades are not sharp so you are slipping and trying to not to fall even as an experience skater expensive limited NY resident tickets The ice was pretty scratched up since the rink was so small and the rental skates were so bad

The few positives: good for if you just want a taste of ice skating (like 2-3 laps) and happen to be in the area workers at the rink were friendly

Yes, it’s an iconic, magical location, especially at night, with scenic projections onto the stanchions of the Brooklyn Bridge and the river, the skyline all around you as you skate. But you are in the hands of a fourth-rate operation. They don’t reliably Zamboni the ice between sessions (I asked, and they said they didn’t have time) so by the evening sessions you are dealing with ruts all over the rink. Perhaps like most rinks in NYC, they treat ticket sales like a parking lot: fill every space. The rink also rents out this flotilla of plastic chairs for people to be pushed around in. Bad for the ice, fatal to the flow around the rink. (You might as well be skating the bridge itself at rush hour.) The website warns you to be on line 20 mins before the session, but when you do, the staff then tells you (nicely) to get lost for 20 minutes, suggesting you head around back to their handy café. A pretty good business idea for them, and the café is pretty nice. But when you get back to the line, which is then long and slow, and you only hit the ice 15 minutes into the 45-minute session, you aren’t going to be so glad you just had a leisurely hot chocolate that you not only paid for, but also had to rent the time to drink it...
