DUMBO — Local services in New York

If I could give zero stars, I would. My visit to the Dumbo location was a complete disaster. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, we discovered—with absolutely no prior warning—that it was the last ferry and that many ticket holders would be left stranded. Despite having already purchased and activated our tickets, we were denied entry. The staff member on duty was not only unhelpful, refusing to answer polite inquiries, but he then resorted to yelling when multiple people sought clarification after the doors were locked. Had we been informed of the limited capacity or that it was the last ferry, we could have made alternative arrangements. Instead, the lack of information and the abysmal system forced us to spend extra money to get home. The staff needs serious training in handling these situations, and the limitations should be clearly communicated to passengers in advance to avoid such frustrating...

I was at Dumbo port to go to Red Hook (using SB route). When a staff was letting people board, he said "Pier 11". I told him I am heading to Red Hook, but he keep saying "Pier 11". Considering the fact that SB departs from Dumbo, visit Pier 11 before arriving at Red Hook, I thought it is SB. However, it was ER. I told him that that's not SB, and he said "I told you it goes to Pier 11." Yeah, SB also goes to Pier 11, so your guidance is confusing. The staff's attitude was so rude.

The staffs should tell passengers the destination and the route, e.g., ER or SB. Especially, the line for SB and ER were shared at Dumbo, therefore it was causing...

Although this is just a regular pier, and a stop for the standard New York ferries, it makes for a super popular (and scenic) spot for locals and tourists to hang out. The pier is open and has a large balcony overlooking the Manhattan skyline. In summer this balcony and the little parks around the place would be thronging with people. You even have an awesome ice cream place and a pizza shack right on the platform. In addition, the neighborhood has teeming cafes and restaurants, so you’re definitely never out of options for eating...
