After walking across the Brooklyn Bridge to the DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) area of Brooklyn my wife and I decided to have lunch at the Timeout Market foodhall. There were many wonderful indoor food stalls options on the ground floor together with the large Cecconi's restaurant with sitting outside next to the riverside with fantastic views of the Manhattan Bridge, as well as indoors. After looking at all the food stalls options on the ground floor, we took the lift up to check out the open air seating area on the 5th floor rooftop, as I had downloaded the App that allowed me to look at all the food options from the stalls, order anything I wanted, pay for it online and have it delivered to our table on the rooftop. When we got to the 5th floor we discovered there was a smaller foodhall with 5 food stalls and a bar. The Bark Barbeque stall immediately caught our attention as it was the only one with a queue and we love BBQ food. So I queued up for 15 minutes and I ordered some fantastic Dominican BBQ food (beef brisket, pulled pork sandwich, smoked conitas & cornbread with honey bitter), which we enjoyed with a couple of great IPA beers that my wife had purchased from the bar, sitting at a bench table. There was also outside seating on the rooftop for diners, in addition to a public terrace with fantastic views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge & NYC skyline. There are toilets on the first floor, which had big queues, and inside the 5th floor foodhall. The riverside with beautiful parks and Jane's Carousel can be accessed from the back of the mall. Of the 3 food halls we visited on this trip to NYC (Chelsea Market & Market 57 being the others) this was by far our favourite and we would highly...
Read moreA great place to bring families and friends for the multitude of food places they have located within the two floors of the building.
Food- I went to Bark BBQ, located on the 5th floor of the market, and ordered the Chicharrón/brisket sandwich, coming out to $19. It was definitely amazing and worth every dollar, the crunchiness of the pork skin with the brisket just tastes phenomenal and worth all the hype around Bark BBQ.
To go with the sandwich, I went to Smashed, located on the 1st floor, and ordered some French fries to go with it, which was $7. The fries come in a cup and with ketchup on the side. It definitely was good, but was it worth $7...maybe not for me.
Service- Service was amazing! You have the option to order food from the different establishments directly to your table, even though I personally went to each establishment myself. I sat at the seating area by Smashed and they had workers there who came and took the trays and plates away so that you never had to leave your table, which was amazing and I am definitely grateful. The guests I brought with me went to Bark BBQ after I told them about the sandwich I got and the popularity with the place, and they got a slice of brisket to try, which is always amazing.
Atmosphere - A great place overall, with lots of people walking about with their trays of delicious food. Definitely would recommend going to the 5th floor, there is an outdoor terrace with amazing views of the Brooklyn bridge and the city! The only reason with the loss of one star is that the seating is a little limited, making it a bit of wait to get...
