My main complaint is the small size of the facility. The boxing ring almost takes up half the place which could have been better utilized for more strength and cardio based equipment. There is a severe lacking in the stationary cardio equipment. Treadmills, ellipticals, Stairmaster, Concept rower, bikes should all be mandatory pieces of gear since weight loss is what ails almost 99% of the US population, both adults and children. Also the location leaves much to be desired. Horrible spot for a gym in a dingy confined ex-warehouse type environment.
For mass transit this is an impossible commute as you are looking at a minimum, one mile walk to and from. See the G train line for what I mean. Driving is even worse as there is no parking in the immediate vicinity. I think some bus depot is right across the street. I feel like I am in Hunts Point the Bronx. Finally, the gym membership prices are way too expensive. You need to compare what is being offered in relation to the big box franchise gyms like Crunch which offers tons of equipment, space and classes in different formats. Not to mention the ability to have regional and national use of different locations. My search for a suitable boutique style gym offering the best bang for my hard-earned bucks will continue. Sadly, this place, despite its new appeal will not last with these glaring...
Read moreI never ever write review, but I guess it’s a first time for everything. Was staying in the area last weekend and RS STRENGTH was right around the corner from where I was staying and wanted to give it a try. I did the Friday 7am boxing class and let me just say….AMAZINGGG. The class is intense but fun at the same time (be prepared to sweat). The trainer was great and offered adjustments, making sure I was doing the movements correctly and was super attentive. Was feeling great after the class and decided to give some of the strength training equipment a try. I’m not gonna lie, I was a little intimidated because they have a lot of strength training/CrossFit equipment and wasn’t sure how to use it. But the staff was so nice and took the time to show me each machine and how to use it and what it targets. Unlike the generic gym and I won’t say any names, they have all the cool up to date equipment and space to work out. It was busy but it didn’t feel like everyone was on top of each other. The equipment and facility was clean, and the music was vibe(forgot my headphones of course). If you’re in the area, check it and try a class you will not regret it. I will definitely...
Read moreI have been to RS Strength for boxing boot camp classes and they are GREAT. The owners and trainers alike are very friendly, passionate about providing a great experience and the workouts kick my butt in the best way. I didn’t even sign up for personal training (yet), but on my first visit, the owner walked me through the gym personally and gave me some great tips. The gym is well equipped, and everything is bright, clean and in great condition. I like that it’s a boutique, private gym without a bunch of bystanders and gym bros buzzing around and I can focus on the class and my workout. The space and peace of mind are well worth the very reasonable prices. I can easily see it being a “best kept secret” for people serious about getting or staying in shape. Wishing them all the best and can’t wait for...
