Ah, yes, the legendary Kum Kau Kitchen! It was nostalgic, somewhat, to see that they’d returned to their, original, take-out restaurant format, just the way I'd remembered it. Alas, it is one of the two last remaining Myrtle Ave establishments that go back to the 70's, my heyday! I'm fairly certain that I was one of their first customers (if not THE first), and was a consistent regular from '76 to '82. Oh, the memories of coming home from Sweet Basil's Jazz Club, getting off of the GG (not the G) at Clinton And Washington, at 2:30 in the morning, and walking down to Kum Kau Kitchen for a half a fried-chicken and fried rice! Well, even tho' Sweet Basil's is long-gone, and the GG is, now, just the G, Kum Kau's half a fried-chicken and fried rice is STILL a classic. May they be there, on Myrtle Avenue, just off the corner of Washington Avenue, forever (‘tho, I’m afraid, I’ll never visit my former home, again)! Thanks, Kum Kau Kitchen, for many fond memories!

Used to be one of my favorite places for over 25 years. They fell way off with the food. There are no Chinese people in the kitchen anymore. It is not authentic anymore. I ordered a large wonton soup and it always has white meat in it. This time they decided to cut corners and I’m seeing dark meat or mystery meat in it. The shrimp with broccoli always being my staple, it is seriously NOT THE SAME anymore. I will NEVER go back. I tried several times to see if it was just me but it isn’t. From my pics attached, what kind of meat is this? It’s certainly not breast meat (I always put the pack of noodles in that comes with the soup).🤢

I don’t understand how this place has so many good reviews. Sesame chicken was soggy. Broccoli was over cooked but tough at the stem. The shrimp dumplings look gross...and one contained a hair. Really lovely! Lo Mein had no flavor. I ordered an egg roll and they gave me pork. I won’t be ordering Chinese food from here again. And neither should you. Go else where, trust me.

Lapin and I were craving Chinese food, since we were in the area we thought should stop in. They have two different sections, a take out area -- which looked shoddy and the sit in restaurant area which looked a lot better. We were seated rather quickly as they didn’t look super busy. Our waiters were nice and attentive to some degree. We sometimes had to ask for extra napkins, hot sauce, water refill but they were quick and nice about it. We got shrimp toast which was very unique. We never had it but it was okay, super greasy though. Lapin had an order of spare rib tips that he enjoyed. We also got wonton soup and egg drop soup which were average tasting. We ordered shrimp fried rice, general tso chicken and chicken broccoli to eat family style. The portions were huge and we were able to take the leftovers to lunch the next day. The food tasted pretty good and quality was on par for the price. We also got a fruit bowl which was a small bowl with handful of pineapple chunks with a toothpick to eat it with. I got a bowl of vanilla ice cream which had some ice chunks but tasted like regular vanilla ice cream from the...

Years ago I lived right around the corner from this place and it was some of the best Chinese food in Brooklyn. Now not so much. the people behind the counter had attitudes. and apparently a listening disability. Ihad to get them to remake my order twice because rhey made it wrong they didn't listen what I asked for , they literally just assumed.( i ordered a luncheon that came with fried rice they literally gave me white rice) i ordered rib tips and shrimp chow mein (hot and spicy) the rib tips were extremely were extremely dried out and no sauce whatsoever. She charged me an extra dollar to put them in a plastic container as opposed to the little paper box that they put them in which is why they were dry. She gave me an attitude for messing up my order and did she messed up then she also messed up woman's order in front of me as well as a person's order behind me! it's a shame to see that's such a great place has fell into such a state of not caring! i will not be back there worst, there were no apologies for their mistakes that they made preparing my meal but there was lots...

This place has gone downhill. It used to be so good that i didn’t mind traveling across Brooklyn for their food. IDK if they just don’t believe in customer service anymore or what. Where can i begin, I’ve been here for lunch over the past several months and the waiter always gets things wrong, and it forgets to offer drinks (soda, juice whatever... he forgets). He’s done it several times so i can’t chuck it up to him forgetting one time. Nope, he’s done it 3 times. This last time was my just that my LAST time eating here. I ordered shrimp with garlic sauce and broccoli, and the shrimp were not fresh. They tasted somewhat rancid. I pulled all of the nasty shrimp out and just ate the broccoli. I informed the waiter who then took my plate of shrimp to the back. Then he came out and asked if i wanted to pack them? 🤦🏽‍♀️ SMH. Needless to say, nobody apologized, or asked i wanted anything else, or better yet, take it off my bill. But i didn’t make a big fuss of it, i paid the bill and will NOT be back. It’s sad that they have gone downhill so much, the quality of food and...
