I’ve been to Sally spa a few times and it’s been a hit or miss. I’ll start by stating that the operation is very bias toward there black customers. I work at the hospital around the clock most days and this location is convenient, so I run out whenever I can to have some self care. This last experience took the cake. They made me sit there for 45 minutes after telling me the wait is 20 minutes. 2 other patrons come in and said they had an appointment at 5:30p… they arrived at 5:57p. Sally spa first stated it’ll be another 15 minutes or so because they wanted to take the customers that where a half hour late. I explained to them that I’ve been here for a while and it wasn’t fair treatment. They then proceeded to walk away and ignore me without further communication. The only black patron in the entire establishment. I don’t make these allegations lightly, but there has been too many cumulative incidents that occurred. I will never spend my money...

I was harassed for not tipping enough, and was told to pay/tip before they even began painting my nails!!! I was there until closing time, and they even turned the store lights off when I was waiting for my nails to dry. The manager stood too close for comfort, and kept heavily sighing while my nails were drying. Then he yelled at his worker for not having me done sooner. He even went as far as to prop the front door open right next to where I was sitting, trying to encourage me to leave with my nails wet. It was below freezing and snowing!!! I sat in the DARK and SNOW blowing in at me, while waiting for my nails to dry. I was so uncomfortable. To top it all off - my manicurist told me I should GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TOMORROW because she knew it was so...
Read moreOne plus about Sally Spa, is that I've never been turned down on a walk-in. They've always been able to take me right away. They have a great sanitary system in which they store your materials (file, slippers, etc) and no one else uses those but you. Their massages are a great add-on and I've always been pleased with the customer service, it's not over the top - and they don't talk much - but look at it this way, you get to relax! The location is clean and relaxing, even with the hustle-and-bustle of NYC right outside. With a bus line on the corner a few steps away and a few blocks walk from the subway, this is a great place to go in Gramercy to get...
