Salon Wave — Local services in New York

I found this place after walking out of a nearby salon during a consultation for a haircut, when it was clear the lady would botch the cut. It was clear by the way she was holding the sections of hair, I would have had a 19902 Raychel mushroom shaggy, rather than a long layered angled bob. So, i walked out of the appointment, and began searching salons and reviews in the area. I walked in to see if they had an opening, and I made an appointment for 2 days later.

Upon arrival I was greeted politely. Cathy asked exactly what I wanted. She even handed me the comb and let me show her exactly how I wanted the hair directed. We discussed cleaning up the ends, the U shape cut in the back, and longer length in the front, as well as the minimal layers that also match the angle. She agreed to cut my hair exactly as I wanted. She stopped at various points to discuss whether I was ok with more length being taken off. She was extremely considerate, and very talented.

I cannot tell you how many haircuts I have had in the last 5 years (in DC area) where I had to go home and recut it myself. I was so happy to get it cut, and it turn out perfectly. Despite my hair being curly, she did a perfect blow out with a round brush, no flat iron needed. She only used 1 product when drying/styling, and it held up despite the heat and moisture outside. It had started raining before my appointment, and I had thought it was going to ruin my straightened hair. I'm happy to say I was wrong, my hair didn't swell or revert to curls.

I will be back. I will be volunteering for work assignments in NYC so I can get my hair...

I LOVE it here! Best hair salon, great for the price. And the staff is so attentive and professional. They show clients the utmost respect. I love coming here! Ayano is my stylist and she understood how to cut my hair right away. I have thick curly hair that requires more attention to detail. And she did that and more! The staff also stays attentive to their clients. Some salons can feel like you’re joining a caddy high school girls club. Not at Salon Wave. They are so kind and respectful. I feel so comfortable being there and I love how my hair looks!...

I searched the web to find a salon which gives permanent waves. After much due diligence, I settled on Salon Wave and the stylist named Shino. Shino was so thorough throughout the process - even asking me to come in for a consultation before my actual appointment so she could assess my hair. The salon itself is lovely, modern, clean, and very friendly. Shino talked me through every step of the 2 1/2 hour process and explained everything I'd need to know going forward. I simply could not be happier and will definitely return for a future...
