Saran African Hair Braiding — Local services in New York

I came to Saran to get my hair braided. I called before I came and spoke to Ramah, who told me that I could come at 1 PM. When I arrived, she and another woman were the only ones there, and they both had people in their chairs that they had just started. Ramah told me someone was coming to do my hair and they should be there shortly. So I waited, while I was waiting 2 people came in after me and Ramah told them as well someone was on their way. While waiting, I was told I should go and get human hair because I wanted to get boho braids. I left to go get the hair, and when I came back not even 10 minutes later, the lady towards the back had finished her client and started braiding the hair of one of the ladies that came in after me. I was obviously pissed because at that point, I had already waited almost 2 hours for this person who was "coming right now" to braid my hair. When I said something to Ramah, she kept repeating the same thing the other lady was coming. After about 4 hours, the lady finally shows up. She sits me down and starts to blow dry my hair but stops abruptly to wait for it...eat. I waited 4 hours for her, and she immediately came in and did nothing and stopped to eat. I found that so rude and disrespectful because they didn't even give me grace when I went to go get the human hair, but I'm supposed to be okay with her stopping to eat after waiting for hours. I got there at 1 PM and wasn't done until around 11:30 PM. When I was done and I went to pay I asked her where can I zelle the money to and Ramah had the nerve to tell me no zelle she only takes cash, and I had to tell her that's not what she told the previous client. She was shocked that I heard her and, of course, was "sorry" and told me what number to zelle the money to. I chose colored hair, and I wanted it mixed, 1b, or 2 with 350. The woman did jet black and the 350. When I left, I felt like it looked like Halloween hair, it didnt look how I imagined. And let's not forget how I went out and purchased a pack of $80 human hair that they recommended for the boho look and I'm more than sure that they didn't use all the hair and kept most of it for themselves. The hair was falling out left and right and was all over the place. Also, the hair they provided was terribly cheap. The quality was horrible, and within days, it looked old and matted. It also was extremely itchy. They got 2 stars because I left with my hair braided, and that's it. I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend them to anyone else. Ramah knows she did me wrong and that I wasn't satisfied, so she didn't even bother asking me to leave a review for her like she asked everyone else to. Proceed at your own...

💩😡👎I honestly wish I could give this place no stars because it was a horrible experience had a salon that I ever had first of all the place now the people talk so much not worry about doing the person's hair they do their own thing while doing your hair in their liars about doing dread I went there to do my hair they charge me $50 to get my hair wash twisted but when my hair was done and it took her three hours and she had some other person do my hair while she do another person hair, 3 hours later my hair became untwisted in a short minutes and they didn't even take the time to part my hair and now my hair it look I haven't done it for weeks I feel realy had wasted my money for a sly piece of s hair style not even style because I didn't what her to s* on my dreads no longer. It was so horrible I recommend no one ever go in that salon to get their dreads twisted because they don't know how to do dreads not at all place is not worth your time in money. I wish I could get my money back , because now I have to wash my hair and do it myself so don't look like...

Horrible first experience. This lady named Rama started to give me attitude as soon as she started to do my hair. She then asked me to give her daughter some money to buy food. When I was confused, she said to just give her some money from the money I gave her for the hairstyle, and she was like, "What is the problem?". The around 4 she pressured me to give her the money before she finished my hair. She asked. " Can I have the money now?" and I told her," When you finish my hair, then you get paid, " and she was like "hmm". She complained that I wouldn't stay still and that she had somewhere to be mind you she took breaks every 10 minutes constantly on her phone. After she finished my hair, I confronted her, I was telling her that I knew I was a child and im by myself, but dont try and pressure me to give you the money before I do my hair. She was like, why?? And I told her that if you're doing someone's hair, ask them after you finish their hair. She then sucked her teeth and began to talk about it with her friends. I do NOT recommend this place. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Rama has no respect...
