Seeking Alpha — Local services in New York

I accepted the trial run; however, it required tying my account to a credit card. Unfortunately, I overlooked the notification email after the trial period ended and only realized later that my credit card had been charged for the annual fee. I immediately requested cancellation within 30 days, agreeing that the company could charge me for the months I actually used.

To my disappointment, the support team refused, insisting that I must pay for the full 12 months because they had sent a notification and would not accept my cancellation. This approach feels very unfriendly to users.

I truly believe the company provides valuable data, but they should also recognize that not every user finds the service suitable—whether too simple or too complex. Users should have the right to decline and request a refund within 30 days.

I don’t like giving low ratings, as I understand how difficult it is to build a company. However, I feel obligated to warn others: if you plan to start a trial run, please read my experience carefully so you can avoid the same issue.

Scummy business practises.

My credit card info was stolen, somebody paid for a subscription, I tried explaining that but they don’t even read messages, just some Generic responses. I never created any account with this company. I’ll go full Karen on you guys, and escalate this as far as I can because you are supporting fraudulent transactions.

Be cautious with Seeking Alpha! They charged my card for a subscription I never authorized. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) and New York General Business Law § 349, companies are required to investigate unauthorized charges and protect consumers from deceptive practices. Seeking Alpha ignored my complaints and refused a refund without even addressing my concerns properly. I have been a subscriber to HDO ( High Dividend Opportunities) for about a year now. It was when I retired that I needed something better to help me generate the type of income I would be needing into the future. This has hit the bullseye dead center for me.
