Overall I was ok with my stay. I also didn't stay in my room long enough to really make any complaints but the complaints I do have made the stay a little uncomfortable.
First, I don't think I was given the correct room. I booked a king bed but my feet hung off the bed so I'm sure it wasn't a king. Didn't realize until it was very late at night and I was too tired to go complain. Also didn't have time the next day to complain so just dealt with it.
Bathroom was a little dirty. Had hair stuck to the side of the shower of different thicknesses. Also the shower curtain touches the floor and goes into the shower by 1 foot.
The air conditioner quit working. Like it was on and blowing air but it wasn't blowing cold air. This happened on our second day and it was very late at night when we got back so thought it pointless to try to get it fixed. That night was our last and not having air made the room very unpleasant and gave me a headache.
Area was a little noisy but l guess that's New York. The door was difficult to find because Google shows the building entrance on the wrong street. The location is prime though. Right by Grand Central, close the Central Park and Times Square and can easily jump on the Lexington Subway to get to Brooklyn Bridge.
Employees were friendly. I wanted to check in early though and called a week ahead of time to be put on a list due to my flight arriving at 6am.. I was told I'd have to call on Friday morning to see if I can check in early. Very inconvenient by not knowing where to put luggage or if we'd be able to shower before exploring. We just decided to show up that morning and hope for the best. We ended up getting told conflicting information. First we're told we could check on by noon and they allowed us to arrange our luggage and change. Once we arranged our luggage and changed and got back downstairs, we spoke to a different employee who said we wouldn't be able to check in until 3 because of the room we booked. But they held our luggage, so that somewhat worked but was definitely not ideal.
Late checkout wasn't even an option... even though the website says it is. We were told the latest we could check out was 12:30 and if we wanted any later, we'd have to pay for another day. Very inconvenient and annoying for later flights and needing to prepare for a flight. Ended up having a very uncomfortable flight because of not being able to properly prepare for the flight. Guess that's not their problem but I feel the check in and check out times need to be flexible. But again, they did hold our luggage until we had to leave for the flight, so that somewhat worked out.
Overall, stay was alright. I think if I were to go back to New York, I might stay again but will definitely be looking for other...
Read morePretty impressed with my stay! As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe staying here. It’s pretty close to grand central station too, which adds a lot of convenience. I could easily walk to Times Square from here as well. The room was very clean, looked nice, had temperature control, and I really like the little booth inside. I didn’t discover this until the last night but they had new empty plastic waters above a filtered water dispenser that you can use. The hotels open easily with a card you hold over it, and it’s also required to go up the elevator, which makes the hotel even safer. I heard minimal noise from outside my windows. Checking in and out was a breeze. Bed was comfy too. I was a little nervous about that because my incoming flight got delayed and I didn’t arrive at the hotel until around 11:30PM, and I also had to check out of the hotel at 5AM. I wasn’t sure if anyone would be available still at that time, but it appeared to always been staffed. And when I left, one of the people working at the hotel hailed me a taxi to the airport. The only drawbacks might be that the elevators were pretty slow moving, the walls between rooms can be a little thin (heard my neighbors’ loud conversation one time and their “fun” time another time…not much heard for 4 nights there though), I had a closet right outside my room that the people cleaning the room came back to all day so I got a little noise from that, and one time the shower kept switching back from hot/cold water, but it only did that the one time. Also, unrelated to the hotel but I could view from my window: there’s a room lite by a bright red light in the building across. I couldn’t figure out why it was there the entire stay. Not a bad thing, just a mystery. Overall though, I got a really good deal on my stay here and it ended up being a...
Read moreGreat staff, welcoming and helpful. The entrance is not that of a "Grand" traditional hotel but there are very interesting and smart features in the building and the rooms. The Wi-Fi is excellent although not password protected; water fountains in the floors with empty bottles for you to take; Keurig coffee machine with real cups/mugs (not plastic!!!! ); Simple but nicely decorated room, with excellent bedding; interesting nook/working area with dedicated light feature, lots of plugs for charging phones or electronics. Tiny closet for those who travel light. There is a smart use of space in bathroom with a great shower booth. It is in the smallish size but with modern functional design. The hotel has room service for food from a nearby restaurant and although they don't offer breakfast actually the 27th floor facility has snacks, fruit and coffee/tea machine. There is a dedicated area that functions as a business center but what makes it awesome is the terrace, with tables and chairs to enjoy the city lights landscape at night or witness the awakening of the city with an aromatic coffee freshly brewed. The lobby is absolutely bare and a tad dark with the wood paneling but staff is efficient and professional. There is just a small desk with a computer, very Spartan. It seems that all the emphasis is oriented to the rooms comfort and the many details throughout the building. Great security system! This hotel is in a core location around the corner from Grand Central Station, but interestingly inside the hotel you cannot hear the noise...
