Although my experience at this salon happened towards the end of 2022/very beginning of 2023, I am writing this review now because I am STILL dealing with the damage that was done by a new colorist that they had recently hired there during that time. I am unsure if she still works there. I had the most gorgeous hair and there is not a day that goes by where I do not look in the mirror and kick myself for ever allowing anyone to touch it. My hair was broken, several sections of my hair were incorrectly colored, and this was shown to the stylist before I left. I made sure to take pictures in different lighting to show her that the bottom half of my hair is quite literally orange and she agreed that was not what we were working towards. So my hair had to be bleached multiple times in one day to cover the multiple mistakes she made during our session and afterwards my hair was completely broken, especially around the top of my head, and is probably only half as thick as it used to be. Even to this day. I was a natural level 7-8 blonde, and the insane amount of chemicals and manipulation that was put into my hair unnecessary and could have been avoided and the staff even agreed with that. My colorist was servicing multiple other customers while the bleach was still on my head, which made me feel insanely anxious. She dismissed concerns I had made about her work, (for example, I told her I noticed the dye she was applying looked quite a bit darker than what I asked for), assuring me that the end result would be fine and would be exactly what I had asked for. So I trusted the process, as I’m not the one who’s a professional here. Well…. the end result was INDEED not what I asked for and my hair could have been saved from tons of damaged if she had listened.
I spent MONTHS, yes, MONTHS researching stylists and I trusted this salon because it is very well-known in the area. I had a reference photo, saw a catalog of my colorist’s previous work, and genuinely believed I would be in good hands and that I had finally found the right person who could finally take the leap with me. I had 100% Virgin hair before my appointment and was looking for a big change. The only positive outcome is that the salon did not make me pay a single dollar for that and that the blowout they gave me made me feel much better about my outcome. As for the color, I had received the POLAR opposite results of what I asked for, which was very hard to explain to my supervisor the next day because I work a job that is particular with appearances. My hair was NEON walking out of here, like a highlighter.
I originally wrote a review that was WAY longer and more detailed than this, but I will leave it at that. My experience here was awful, will never be retuning and I have not seen any other hairstylist since then. I...
Read moreMichelle the hair stylists was highly recommended by a neighborhood lady that I met. I liked my neighborhood lady’s hair so I asked her where did she go. She told me about this place Spectrym on Austin Street in Forest Hills and gave me the name of her hairstylist named Michelle. I have been looking for someone to give me layers and everyone recommended not to layer it. Michelle looked at me and wanted to see a picture of the hairstyle and low and behold, she gave me the hairstyle I so have been looking for for years!!! She is Amazing, Professional, Great Sweet, Polite and knows her stuff if you know what I mean. Extremely Experienced and speaks you to asking you questions to make you feel comfortable in her hands!! Love my hair and now found my Hairstylists Michelle!! I definitely will be returning from now on!! Highly recommended!! Thank You Michelle and Thank Judy who recommended me to...
Read moreI've been to this salon a few times and only once did I walk out happy. And because of that one time I've been giving it more chances however, I've honestly had enough. I always book the appointments with Julie and while I admit she does a wonderful job on other clients, I feel as though she is very lazy when she is doing my hair. If I schedule an appointment for a hair cut and blow dry, please explain to me why she is always taking out her flat iron? I asked for straight BLOW DRY. If I wanted to flat iron my hair I would have done it myself at home for free instead of paying almost $90 for nonsense. And at previous appointments when I asked for wavy hair, why is she still taking out a flat iron when I am specifically asking for a blow dry? I am paying for a service that should be making me happy and loving my hair cut when it literally looks like what I could have done myself. Not...
