It's so sad that a store that is meant for every human being is turned into a racist circle. What a shame! My experience on 12/17/2024 at this Manor Road Staten Island NY 10314 was my worst ever! On my way to work, I needed green tea, Bigelow decaf to be precise. I asked one of the workers if they have green tea, he said yes and directed me where to find them. I checked didn't find what I needed. So I decided to leave. As I was approaching the door, one of the staff, tall guy always with a face cap on said, asked if I was looking for something? I said to him, yes I wanted to buy green tea Bigelow decaf but you don't have it. Thinking he could help me find one, but I was wrong. He blocked me from going out the door. He said "you have so much in your pocket " looking at my pockets. Asked what I had in my pockets. I asked him if he'll like to check my pockets? He was standing in front of me refused me to go through the door. Then I understood that he suspected me to have stolen some stuff and put them in my pockets. (I work in a health field, my uniform has a lots of pockets to carry some of my stuff while I work. And my work place is very close to the store). Back to my horrible experience, I got upset and said to him, you have to search my pockets to know if I took anything from your store. When he saw the way I reacted, he walked away. I said to him, if it was wrong to stop by the store and not find what I needed? As I still insisted for him to search me, one of the workers, a lady put her hand on me threatening me. One of the cashiers said, it doesn't matter if I don't come to the store anymore, but I should leave. I intend to call the police but I will be delayed for work. I asked if it's wrong to be black? My answer is NO! One of the workers came to me and apologize in pretense. My question is why is it that when a black person enter a store, he or she should be monitored and suspected? I was so embarrassed and disrespected. Why does he think I came into the store with my uniform and my ID on to steal from the grocery store? Why did he not check the store camera to see if I took anything? Why did he decided to harass and embarrassed me like that? Because I'm black? So black people can't stop by the store without being suspected of stealing? By the grace of God, I have a good job. I've never been humiliated like this before. I've never ever stollen anything from anyone,never was, never will. But God Almighty that I serve will always defend me in HIS own way. What so ever a man sows he shall reap! To every of my fellow black family, or to anyone who cares to know about the store, be careful when you visit that Superfresh supermarket at Manor Road Staten Island NY 10314. Too much racism in the store. I can't stop you, but I can advice you to be watchful. I've sent this message to the authorities and those it may concern. If I could give this racist location 0 stars. I would. Over all my years coming here I’m fed up. I went in today and just had another issue but I’m going to share my last one. They have customers who are entitled while the people of color get treated badly. I had to deal with a cashier named Thata be completely off putting to me at the end of her shift recently by telling me she was closed when it was busy. This wasn’t my issue, I stepped down to the next cashier, yet right after she took a white young male. Immediately after. And I’m a black proud woman. Then I watched her proceed to close again until her manager asked her to open . I only had one item and so did that young male. What made him worthy and not me? When I called it out she yelled at me saying that she was closing but got asked to stay as if I didn’t watch her get asked AFTER she took the young male after making me step down to a already busy line. The manager was piled over and I told him how I felt and he told me not to feel that way that he love all colors that it was a mistake. I can guarantee it wasn’t. This happened about a week ago but I’m reaching out to you all because I’m sick of this racist location and what I witnessed lately. Dont shop here. Color matters to them, ask the community. I’m sure many people of color will agree. Because we across the street been feeling the same way. It is officially the last and only SuperFresh store in Staten Island after the SuperFresh at amboy road eltingville has closed its door 2022. I want to say that the one on amboy was our first option to shop but unfortunately after it closed I would go to this place if I have only instacart shopping as a shopper. The store is so small, you can barely move and items are loaded in a hard way to get easily and also less variety than the amboy one.
