I was excited to support this Latinx owned business after seeing their tiktok page but I dont think I am ill be returning. As soon as my partner and I arrived we walked in to ask about an outdoor table. The manager told us to wait outside and that they'd have to check their reservations first, totally okay but as our first experience with the establishment we felt like more of a burden than welcomed. When we asked our server about the price of an item that was displayed on their instagram and absent from the menu she said she had no idea they made that, and confirmed the price after going inside to check. We ordered the Birria tacos and the Birria Torta. If you've had birria tacos from birrialandia you know how delicious they can be. So when I saw the price for both birria items was $18 I was shocked by the upcharge but willing to pay for a good meal. Our food arrived about 45 min late. We sat as other tables who sat after us were served. We hadnt even ordered main dishes, tacos and tortas should not take 45 min, the place was not crowded. When our food finally arrived the birria was overcooked and the consome was salty and lacked any kick. We were surprised the menu listed American cheese at a Mexican establishment. We spoke to the manger about our experience, they provided 50% off our bill which was considerate but they also handled the interaction poorly, not apologizing for our experience. Management appears young and while we want to support a Latinx run business it seems like you are paying for the atmosphere over the quality of the food. I can get amazing birria landia tacos off the truck for a fraction of the cost at a maximum of the taste, if they changed their priced tomorrow and I had to wait an hour I would do it, because they always deliver. Overall, disappointed with this experience. If youre looking for birria tacos, Queens is still...
Read morethis is gonna be an honest review. I went to Olli for the first time this past weekend with my best friend because we had been craving Mexican food and saw this place on Instagram. We were seated outside, and given water. The decorations are very nice and definitely feels “homey” which was nice but it’s funny because this restaurant is IN THE PROJECTS, so good luck finding parking, dealing with druggies and a dirty environment overall getting there. The outdoor tables are so close to everyone it’s just not comfortable. We ordered sangria and it was tasty but i felt like i was drinking apple juice. Our server was okay, she wasn’t really that friendly (maybe she had a bad day or was busy) but she seemed to just rush us and looked like she didn’t even wanna be there also had us sitting there for a while waiting for the check. I ordered the Plato Juancho.. which came with cactus, honestly didn’t see the point to the cactus, i would’ve preferred extra bell peppers because the cactus honestly does nothing for the dish except take up space(and it’s a small dish for $20.00, i would’ve went to a colombian restaurant and gotten more for $20.00) my friend got something that looked like nachos in green sauce and the chips were soggy and constantly breaking so she didn’t really enjoy her meal. This place is pretty overpriced, I felt like I was paying for the decor rather than the food. The food is average, not too much flavor and the drinks are small and average. Don’t think i’ll be coming back again. This place is too hyped up and I don’t know why. They were playing Selena on repeat ... she’s...
Read moreI have visited the place 3 times and I can say that each time I have been, I am amazed by the flavors and presentations of the Mexican dishes. On the other hand I can say that the prices may seem somewhat high according to what I have heard from my companions, but personally I believe that each dish is the right price for the quality of food that is served. Additionally, the environment is totally homelike and the music makes it more warm and compassionate, as well as the various activities that they offer make the place creative and not at all monotonous. I had the opportunity to be on Painting Tuesdays and I can say that it was a lot of fun with my family, they enjoyed the music, food and drinks. On the other hand, in terms of space and comfort, it can be said that it is very limited and has a small booth in front of the restaurant, somewhat small for the quality of the restaurant, it is also difficult to paint or eat at such small tables so it is a bit uncomfortable, apart from that the place has a very unique decoration and Mexican style. As for the attention is fast and effective, the moment you arrive they locate you and offer you the menu, I can also say that the estimated time for the entrances and drinks is not long so it is not an inconvenience in cases where the...
