Visited this bakery recently. Due to the corona pandemic they have a 3 person per store policy which is stated all outside. I waited outside with my partner for 2 people to leave the store (out of respect and courtesy). Both the 2 visitors and the people who work in the bakery are hispanic. The 2 individuals that left out were light in color. Me and my partner are both dark in color. Once me and my partner entered immediately, the cook in the back spoke to both me and my partner very hostile about staying 6ft behind the counter which we did immediately when we stepped in. Not to mention, they have boarders up to keep social distance so there was no way we even came in any contact with any of them nor did we have plans too. However, the cook did not implement this on the other people that left the store. After this occurred, we were not able to even make a order because both the cook and cashier began to panic. The cashier began to say very aggressively to stay behind the counter and my partner was confused on how to pay for the order since she did not want us close to her. Keep in mind, we were just purchasing bread that was already cooked that took about 5-6 mins because she kept telling us to stay back aggressively which did not make the situation any better. However, the other 2 people that were there before us were very up close to her grabbing their orders (me and my partner saw this when we were outside) so me and my partner were very confused and highly upset that those rules did not apply for them. We felt very racially profiled. She had no problem taking my partners card once we were ALLOWED to make a order, but still did not want to be anywhere near him. Little did she know, my partner is hispanic and once he began to speak spanish, their whole demeanor changed. I don’t see why we would not want to take the same precautions everyone else is taking, but due to our skin color we were targets, unfortunately. I will be putting in a complaint and a report for this restaurant. I’m not sure why we were discriminated towards because this restaurant has good reviews, but it did happen. I will NOT EVER go here again. Me and my partner are highly upset over this situation and as said before I will be making...

Read moreI heard La Tropezienne Bakery on 1st Ave near 110th St was a great bakery so I order a birthday cake for my daughter on 24 Nov to be picked up on 1 Dec. I inquired what their best seller was (Strawberry shortcake) and ordered and paid for it. It was a very small cake and cost $28 which was ok since it was supposed to be delicious. I went to pick it up a week later and had to wait about 20 + mins while they found it. Got it home and ate it and it was horrible. The icing was freezer burnt and pastie as 8f it had been frozen for a long time. The cookie on top with the writing on it tasted freezer burnt or as my daughter put it 'like dish soap'. Her husband nor her kids wouldn't even eat it. I was very disappointed. I ordered it a week in advance and there is absolutely no reason why I should have received a frozen cake. I do not recommend this bakery for...
