I can't even wait for my lease to be up before leaving a review for this place. The whole thing is a racket. This is a WEALTHY property management group, charging as much for ANYTHING at all as they legally can. They have a designated building broker that you'll foot the bill for, they will advertise rent stable but always raise the rent as much as allowed, laundry machines that use a convoluted cash-only card-loading machine (ps don't lose your card), amenities that are often out of commission, a sewage issue that has caused the dog run to flood twice in my ten months here with visible human feces, and the straw that broke the camel's back for me-
My partner and I wanted to extend our lease for just a few months and their policy is that they charge $500/month extra for each month you wanna extend through. It's as if every month I continue to pay their absurd rent to stay with them is such a burden to them to be worth $500 for their trouble. Just look at the company LinkedIn. Everyone who works in management here only has experience with Halcyon. The place is a sinking ship. Either don't move here or make sure you're equipped to organize and rent strike. Disgusting company. Wish I could add a picture to this review so I could show you the human feces floating in the dog run right now, with no signage or communication giving a heads up.
Oh and 4 out of the 6 dryers were also regularly out of commission, so if despite all of this you still want to move here, just make sure to plan laundry accordingly and load up that laundry card with extra cash to get eaten by a machine that'll leave your clothes in a damp pile.
It's crazy that it's legal for a company like this to have power over people's housing.
EDIT: forgot to mention, I learned there was an issue with rat poison packets strewn around the dog run- not from management- but from my dog excitedly holding one. Thank goodness I noticed it for...
Read moreThis is a "newer building" constructed about 10-12 years ago, but the amenities they mention don't all work. The screens on the gym equipment are all broken, the console in the lobby is broken, the screen in the theatre flashes blue which makes it pointless to reserve, and the sauna has a gap in the door etc. They will charge you monthly to send you your HVAC bill (the bill - which at times is astronomical). They will try to charge you as much as possible when you are renewing your lease and they just repeat robotic answers via email if you try to inquire about it. In my instance I signed a lease at a certain amount only for the lease to be returned with a high amount listed! The only way I got it back to the original amount was to make a ruckus. We did have mice several times this year and because the apartments are small it is more noticeable and then they sent the exterminator multiple times to clean up that mess... Additionally, if you have a balcony in the back it is kinda useless because you hear the AC fans spinning all day long. Lastly, some apartments share bedroom walls with other units / the staircase / are near the elevator so it won't be as quiet as it should be based on the amount we pay. Just some things to consider! If you have extra cash to burn and don't want to live in a pre war building, this...
Read moreThe building is showing age but in a decent state, with nice amenities like central air, a sauna, movie screening room, gym, game room, and pet relief area. The building staff are lovely, including the helpful front desk staff, and repairman who is quick and kind.
The laundry room is in a constant state of disrepair, with ancient cash-operated machines that break regularly. I reduced my initial 5 star rating to 4 stars because management refuses to replace them despite ongoing tenant pleading.
We live in a cycle of the laundry machines breaking, long waits for repairs, then they break again. Laundry is an important part of a renter’s quality of life and this building’s laundry room is not meeting the rest of the building’s standards.
That being said, some units have a laundry closet where tenants can install their own laundry machines. These units do not come with...
