Update: Returned a second time, and my only complaint was the staff, they don’t seem to know or care about customer service. The general cashier area vibe was rude and almost not inclusive at all. I felt bad having to ask them to ring me up, which is the entire point of them being at the register.
More of a 3.5/5 but google only allows whole numbers…
Love that this bookstore is romance centered and made its way to the east coast! The decor is quite nice and the ripped bodice merchandise was awesome. I ended up spending way too much money here.
The book selection is huge! However, this also caused a star to be removed because for a brick and mortar store, there was no personal touch! It makes the store feel a little “corporate” like a Barnes and Noble. There’s no curated touch to the book selection as opposed to larger book stores where they’ll write a blurb and something to grab your attention. It can feel overwhelming if you don’t know what you’re looking for.
Another negative was the staff seemed very busy just stocking books. They weren’t very friendly at the counter and while waiting to check out, they sort of ignored us until another staff member grabbed their attention because they were so busy labeling the books.
I think I’d recommend romance novel fans to check it out but only once. I was a little disappointed with the lack of personality to the store beyond some floral decorations and wall decorations. I don’t think I’d necessarily go out of my way to return here as I can get books anywhere else. Only reason I didn’t do 3/5 on google was because I wanted to support this...
Read moreRude & unreasonable!!! They need to upgrade their return policy, the policy stated that they accept returns within 30days of purchase. When I went to return the books I purchased, they asked me what was the reason for the returns and I told them I read a bit of it and didn’t like the book. They immediately said oh we can’t accept returns once you’ve read the book, you can go to the thrift store down the block and donate them. Mind you there was no marks, tears, dents or crack, I basically just read the first three-four pages.. the books are in perfect condition, exactly like the day when I purchased them. Not only did they not accept the return, their attitude was just pure nasty. One of them even said, “We’re not the library, you should’ve went to the library instead.” I understand if the book had marks, dents or tears or even cracked. But it was in perfect condition, and I can’t return them because I read a few pages of the book and didn’t like it? Put your best bet in Barnes in...
Read moreI ordered a signed book online, it said it would take 5-15 business days. Its been over a month since I ordered it, and it never came. I tried contacting customer service, and both locations told me they can't do anything about it, to call the other location, or give me an email, just so they don't respond to me on this matter. I personally reached out to the author of the book, I was told it should come within a week. Still never came. No follow up, no shipping confirmation, or anything. I'm down $25, and I would appreciate more communication on their end. They were nice when I was talking to them, and I'm sure there was something that went wrong with my order (which I had to find out from the author instead of The Ripped Bodice), but to not follow up with me, or communicate to me about my order not arriving, makes me rightfully mad. I hope this can be solved sooner or later, as I was genuinely looking forward to reading Page Powars, And They Were...
