Update June 19: I parted my hair differently this week and lo and behold, huge chunks of hair at the hairline were not dyed. Lots of gray visible. I’m forced to visit another salon while on holiday to get my hair properly dyed and pay for yet another dye job because Lupita at Tiga didn’t do a good job. I emailed Gabriel at Tiga three days to resolve and have not received a reply. This is unacceptable. Would not recommend. Would not go back. — Editing this review after my most recent experience. Lupita was my stylist and she was good. No complaints other than she was quiet and I didn't know her name until the end of my appt after I asked her for it; a simple intro would have been nice. My biggest issue is the pricing. They charge a significant fee for using a credit card, and no where is it posted that cash is discounted. How a $110 appointment turns into $119 for using CC seems sketchy. That's a 9.2% chargeback. And then there was no way for me to tip the stylist without cash, so I had to ask for her Venmo. Tiga should be more transparent with its pricing policy and also allow for customers to tip via CC. Gabriel (owner) and Olga (stylist) were great! Attentive, efficient, and most of all, they made me look great! Olga did such a nice job on my cut, color and blow out. I feel like a celebrity today! I will...
Read moreGabriel is absolutely terrific! I've had plenty of okay haircuts and too many horrible haircuts in my life - after all, curly hair is difficult to cut no matter what and I fully admit I'm extra particular - but Gabriel is a rock star in my eyes!
He has the technical skill and knowhow. He has an instantly comfortable personality. And he listens! That's the most incredible part - he actually listens [how many times have I asked for 1/4"-1/2" off and left a salon with 2+" (50%) of my hair gone].
I've spent upwards of $100 more in Manhattan salons, and for what - mediocre hair cuts and 1 nice view of the Meatpacking district? No more; Gabriel is now officially my hair guy! And that's not faint praise. He's 1 of exactly 2 stylists in my life I'd highly recommend. Terrific.
[Update: Gabriel has been my hair guy for over a year (I straight up refuse to let anyone else cut it) and his talent and skill still impress me. He's transformed La Belle Unisex into Tiga Salon, and even if you live in Manhattan, Queens, or likewise, he's well worth the journey to beautiful Park Slope. I've never been disappointed with a Gabriel cut; he's still a rock star...
Read moreI had an awesome first time experience getting color correction at this salon. My hair was four different colors thanks to bad balayage and root touch ups. I hated the color so much I had been avoiding getting my hair done again. Guadalupe and the gentleman there (sorry I didn’t catch his name!) gave me an excellent consultation to discuss my options to improve the appearance of my hair. They did a fantastic job, and I am very happy with the color.
Guadalupe also gave me an excellent haircut. Much better than previous salons I had been to in Bushwick! The vibe was very positive and kind. I had to rely to work messages on my phone during the color, but Guadalupe was very nice about it. I rarely enjoy haircuts but felt comfortable and welcome here.
My fear of haircuts has been resolved! I will be back. The price was also reasonable ($180 for color correction + haircut, which was very reasonable considering they mixed and used 4 different dyes on my...
